Rabbit skin, soft toy anything. The idea is to tease the dog with it making him run, jump twist and turn. Let him catch it sometimes. Take it easy at first if your dogs not used to it. Great help for keeping them fit. There's some clips on YouTube give you the idea.

I'm going to knock one up, thinking I might use poly pipe with a rope running through it.

something like this.

Easier to just buy a horse lunge whip, its ready made to just attach what ever you want, it also gives you much more flexibility when they catch it

and when your flicking it.

How much a day would you lads let a pup (5 months old) on these? Mine is mad for it, got a lunge whip with a bit of white carrier bag on the end, it rustles through the grass when it moves and she goes bonkers for it. have to hide in the house from her otherwise shes jumping up at it and yapping wanting it! only got her on it 5/10 minutes a day plus her walks at the moment.

No expert but would say that's more than enough, if the pup is mad for it keep it that way and don't sicken it. Let the pup grab hold and reel it gently in for a retrieve praising it. Really have to be careful with pups can do more harm than good don't go mental with it. Have fun but be steady.
