neil82 1,080
" free to all unemployed "......." none of them give their money away " What is it with us that we think people who dont work should get stuff for nothing or that wealthy people should give their money away ?...........Other than the absolute basics that a human being needs to survive why should an able bodied person be entitled to money they dont/wont earn ?......Why should a person who works hard or has a special talent and does well for themself be made to feel guilty for spending their own money ? Its a strange concept we seem to adopt in this country maybe if so many people wasnt sitting with their hands out the country in general might have a bit more get up and go about it ! very true, but if you spout out as much sheite as Brand does as every opportunity about how the wealthy are responsible for all that's wrong in the world you`d think he`d be acting on his so called (alledged) principles rather than hunting out every bit of publicity to promote himself, does anyone think he pays what he regards as his fair share of taxes as he so often shouts out about others avoiding or does he employ exactly the same accountants to avoid paying as much as possible himself
CushtyJook 1,097
I don't take no interest in politics what so ever they do as they want and don't care about the people I wouldn't waste my time going to the voting either

Just to clear that up Gnash, i don't think people have to give their money away to be able to have a say mate, not my point at all, that's a daft way to think, if there was no point in starting a business to get on in life, or using a talent to get ahead we'd be in a right mess. Skint or rich everybody should have a right to an opinion, just more interesting when somebody with money tells the truth? I saw the bloke who started "Phones 4 u" on dispatches the other week, he's paid every penny of his tax, 260,000,000 i think it was, put that geezer in charge, obviously he's got morals. clabedoo 59
Brand (Russell) has given the profit from his latest book to the families in London who are being turfed out of their houses by multinationals who want to build yuppie flats instead - sound good to me. Don't agree about not voting though - people died to get and preserve that right.

Couldn't agree more, Gnash. I've got no issue with people working hard and spending money. Likewise, I've got no issue with the extremely wealthy being coerced into coughing up a little more in taxes. I do have an issue with working hard and then giving it all up to support someone who doesn't want to do anything. f**k that guy. I dont really see that mate to be honest....its human nature to want to get away with paying as little tax as possible i dont see why wealthy folk shouldnt want to " get off a bit light " like the rest of society.......i know nothing about your man Brand apart from the fact he supports a ropey football team but i do remember listening to him talking on some show one night and he spoke a lot of sense in parts, other times he comes across as a complete prick so i dont really know what he stands for i just dont like this philosophy of penalising people who do well financially regardless how they earn their money i dont even begrudge politicians a good wage they do a job most people wouldnt and couldnt and so c**ts as most of them are i think they,re entitled to a better than average lifestyle yet folk jump up and down screaming if they see a politician eating in a nice restaurant i just dont understand that mentality. I believe the benefit system has two main purposes . . . the first is to help the needy all though like every system it has floors that people exploit and take advantage of,The second and main reason is to keep the masses under control and in the governments pocket, its a bit like the saying "never bite the hand that feeds you". This is why the government is reluctant to sort it out.
