trenchfoot 4,243
I'd give it a go. Spent most of my life with collie crosses bred like that and most have been grade A hunting dogs. coursing dogs, never but by god they have put some stuff to bed 2 Quote Link to post
bird 9,883
Saluki bull greyhound 27tts (racey) x pure working collie (works with ferrets and bushes for fun). Think the pups would be worthwhile rabbiting dogs on lamp and ferreting? Both parents are good dogs. Just after some opinions lads, cheers. ok for above, as any x with that amount collie in it would be, but even if you went back to a collie x grey, you still get a dog do the same as above, and have bit more pace to it for other stuff you may bump into . lots of 1/4 collies x 3/4 running dogs have good noses and are biddable , a 1/4 collie still plenty in any lurcher , and you get still good wind with that bit of saluki in there as well, and bit of bull for grit , that's the way I go . 1 Quote Link to post
dan john 82
Sounds sensible to me atb with it Quote Link to post

KittleRox 2,147
I agree with nighteyes and bird, wrong collie and you may end up slightly frustrated or mentally disturbed lol, 1/4 collie would be safer Quote Link to post
blackmaggie 3,376
why not go for it seen pures give a good account of themselves ferreting etc i think to many play it safe with tradition crosses but when something against the grain works there willing to try it in theory but theres nothing like the unexpected producing the results and working out and like the old saying nothing ventured nothing gained in this world good luck matey if you decide to do it 1 Quote Link to post
RussBoy 77
Ye think I am going to give it a bash. Ferreting and lamping rabbits is what I mostly want out them and maybe others if bump into them. The collie is bred from a hill farm out of hard working dogs but its been trained and used for hunting ferreting bushing etc and has very high prey drive catching and retreiving. No herding with this collie grabs every time Quote Link to post
beast 1,884
I'm with fuji and trench foot I've had a couple of dogs bred this way and been out with a few more . For an out and out workhorse they take some beating, damn near indestructible and have a go t anything. Go for it 2 Quote Link to post

kevin kiely 66
I wouldn't. For lamping get a collie grey or stick with the straight lurcher Quote Link to post
