I love flats. Wider singles with M-8 are all I've used for a while for hunting. Gold or Silver Theraband cut 25mm wide chuck M-8 nuts ace. I've been using silver for a while, might as well have an easier draw for accuracy as the speed difference isn't noticeable without a chrony at my hunting distances. Just goes to show that most bandsets are too heavy for the ammo used.

It's a revalation when you realise what you can get away with, with light ammo and a slightly longer draw length.

I keep thinking I've found the perfect combo of bands and ammo, then I try a different setup and everything changes.

It's definitely a personal thing too. I wish someone had told me to try different combos till I find something that fits when I started shooting catties, it's the only way to see what works for you.

I've got a gamekeeper pocket poacher at side of me now with his double bands on. Everyone new to catties can watch him shoot it on YouTube and think that's how it's done. I can't hit a barn door with the f***ing thing (for sale;).

Topshot off YCH came today with long draw 1745 tubes I asked him to fit, I've just got a new favourite bandset lol.

I've said a lot without answering your question lol. I'd say try TBG single 20mm with a longer draw than you think you need. Shorten them by an inch till you feel comfortable almost maxing the bands out. There's no science to this method it's just that mates of mine I've give catties to have ended up a better shot with a longer draw than they would have instinctively. 9.5 steel or M-8 nuts for ammo.

f**k it, just watch some American guys on YouTube and imagine that's what I said ;)

I've still got the original flats that my scout came with (maybe I'm just not shooting enough  ). I occasioanly re-try a set of single theraband gold which is thicker than the scout stuff but my accuracy and power go immediately. As 1Wally said, it's all personal.

I'd also agree about gradually decreasing the length of the bands until you find the right length for you...though this is of course much easier with a scout as the bands only take moments to change. Incidentally, I started out with marbles, simply because I could get a big bag for a quid from a certain well known shop, but now use the m 8 hexnuts. I've tried ball bearings but can't get on with them...hexnuts are also easier to hold in the pouch without dropping when you're "between shots."

Edited to add: there's a gap between the "m" and the "8" because it otherwise came up as banned text presumably because of "mate"?

They're. O40 latex that come with scout Neil mate. Ace bands they are. Think its gaffer on here, if you ask him they are best you can get. Thing is, no flats are long lasing and them pure latex are worse than theraband for deterioration. If you change your band set as often as I do its not a problem. You could leave a set of TBG in a cupboard for a year though and it would be just as good as the day you stuck it in there whereas latex would be ruined. :)

I found Theraband gold (triple) good but perished far to quickly. I have gone back to 12" of 3/8" rubber. I still use my granddads hand made lead ball maker (from cir 1910) which makes 3/8" balls. My catty Its one hell of a pull, but I can put a hole in a steel bean can thrown in the air.
