Gin 498
Thanks Rio, very interesting stuff. I must admit i like the ease of use of this Z-poxy. As can be seen, i now have the scales in place. Just the pins to work on now.

Gin 498
Good to hear about that company for you. I have a few sharpening systems, to work on with this blade. I'd like to use the proper wet stones but i don't find them easy.
Gin 498
Both scales now fitted and drilled through. Just the brass pins to fit now, then shape the handpiece.
riohog 5,721
gin why dont you put and fix the pins the same time as the scales /
Gin 498
I just find it easier this way, and less chance of any slippage with the scales, when drilling the holes.
riohog 5,721
wellif it works for you fine ,
Gin 498
I like the first scale a good fit, and glue fully set, then drill through that one,- then get a good fit and glue fully set on the second scale, then drill through from the first one, that way i know everything will be ok. I know it takes me a bit longer, but i don't make many knives, so have plenty of time.
Gin 498
Finished now. I'm very pleased indeed with it. I'm glad i used the black micarta, i normally prefer a light colour, but this worked great with the brass.
GruffaloGriff 1,859
Nice job Gin. Red flitches and brass hardware go nice with the black scales.

spsurfer 891
Nice looking, rugged knife! I make knives, as well, small, traditional hunters mostly. Allthough I prefer hidden tangs. www.fetting-messer.com Regards Nicolas
