Aye they were good. Shame Beckinsale died when he did, its been said Going Straight had the potential to be even better than Porridge. :(

 

i could well believe it,the acting and the writing is superb

terrible shame he died so young

I just looked it up mate, first episode 1995, thought it was a bit older than that tbh

Older than I thought!.......even League of Gentleman is 15 years old......I'll be reminiscing about that soon....:-)

If I remember correctly, some woman made a claim about Leonard Rossiter, but it was discounted as someone just jumping on the bandwagon and using him as he was dead. It wasn`t an underage thing either.

 

It appears there was no issue with him as far as I can tell.

The claim came from a male wannabe actor who did'nt make it, who said Rossiter was in the room when he was assaulted by two other actors who went on to have a slighty better career than the shouter but not so better where thier names would support a decent headline. Both the actors are still alive, the odd lot did'nt want to know.

Of course the old comedys were funnier it was an age of pre political correctness when people could have a joke without being accused of being racist or homophobic, love the old steptoes, fawlty towers, and auf wiedhersen pet, some great comics in those days, not like the so called new wave comediens? now.

There was a program on a few months back called it was ok in the 70s about programs in 70s the stuff they were able to do and say you definitely wouldn't get away with it these days
