Looking For A Pup

Recommended Posts

Old age is starting to sneak up on my bitch, a few old injuries are rearing their head more often. I had a pup from p***y poachers mouse last year, unfortunately we didn't suit each other so she was given to the guy who bred my old bitches son as his dog had recently broke its leg.

Now old age and common sense are catching up on me, I've gone from being self employed and care free to a married father of two young girls with a full time job on a farm with a house.

Living in Hampshire (see the expensive rabbit thread) I've got to be s bit more sensible now adays.

Hence I'm looking for a little rabbiter, ideally around the 20" mark with a good burst of speed. Small enough to sit in the footwell of a tractor and hang on to the back of a quad. I've always preferred bitches too. I'm not looking for a dog to chase a hundred rabbits a night, but a constant companion that will be out all day on the farm taking opportunities as they arrive mouching, ferreting and a bit of lamping.

I've got some pals in different areas keeping an eye out for me, just wondering if anything is coming along. I'm very much drawn to a 3/4 whippet or grew based lurcher.

Just to add a bit more contraversy, I've driven the length and breadth of the country for a pup in the past (in a rusty yellow renault extra van as Burny69 will testify, he had a whining pup piss on his lap). However not ruling a drive out, but I would like to think a dog suited to running Hampshire rabbits on the Hampshire downs could be found within a reasonable drive.

If your still reading this waffle hopefully you might know of a pup.
