FUJI 17,324
One thing I will say is no matter how good some of these coursing bred dogs are,I need a lurcher to be more than a point & slip dog which most of the "fashionable" names in the land are...I have dogs out of two coursing types those being Romeo & Razor & if I had to have another I'd bypass the Romeo blood, they can run alright, plenty of wind but the ones I know of are thick b*****ds,I mean f***ing backward, nervy types quite a lot of them too, poor jackets to name one or two faults..Never again for me,better blood out there for breeding from imo or at least there is to me,infact my own dog Boots has more to offer than most of the so called big names in my own opinion as he a temperament to die for, biddable, big strong aggressive type of runner who will take the full spectrum, great coat, feet etc,no one trick pony that's for certain..He will do for me & my lot..Bollox to all the hyped up one trick ponies, you can stick em where the sun don't shine lol 7 Quote Link to post
C.green 3,231
I've said the same as this for a long time running and killing 4 or 5 hares on a Feb is some feat but for someone who wants to do a good bit of everything there better breeding to look for in my opinion. Fuji do you find your feathered dog out of razor is abit injury prone ? As I've seen you mention a few times you've travelled with him and he's not been right or is abit under the weather. cocker 2,654
A lot of it down to the people who own them Fuji I got a pup off Romeo here, gamest little thing a dog man could ever want, bold confident quiet and more intelligence than most of the dog lads on thl and Facebook, 2 Quote Link to post

Fuji do you find your feathered dog out of razor is abit injury prone ? As I've seen you mention a few times you've travelled with him and he's not been right or is abit under the weather. No not at all,he's never ever had as much as a tweak in over 4 years until he hurt himself some 8 weeks ago when he hit a fence at full speed trying to stop his quarry, his wrist was the size of an apple,I'd never seen anything like it in my life,so the dog has been kept relatively quiet since then but he's back & been putting gear to bed of late..Just with not having his usual workload I'd put him over the top with his feed, his kidneys were overloaded with protein on my latest venture but he's absolutely flying again now after sorting that out,he's sound,in tremendous form, looks a million dollars & will be out at daylight in Storm Doris tomorrow lol..Some of the places I run him would end lots of dogs careers first trip out,he's possibly been the soundest dog I've ever owned I reckon? 2 Quote Link to post

This thing is brain dead at times,I'd of culled it a fortnight ago for its antics had my lad not been at his friends funeral that day & as he bought the dog & I didn't want to make his day any worse by putting this c**t down..If it don't sort itself out the twat will be dead..Simple as that 1 Quote Link to post

Just out of interest what is his litter sister like temp wise? I have a pup that's a granddaughter to Romeo. She's bold as brass, lovely forward pup and very switched on for her age, recall etc is excellent. The day I seen her sire he was barking at me and I honestly thought he might take my arm off lol. Not flighty or nervous one bit. I agree about the coat though, a lot of the ones I've seen have really thin jackets, which can be a plus or negative depending on who owns them lol. All the best bud ?? Quote Link to post
cocker 2,654
Pity it's turned out that way Fuji cos I know you put the time and effort in to them pal and have the years of experience to do so, Quote Link to post

All the best bud ?? Mario's sister is a summer hunters dream bud, can't take her out on a cold day let alone a wet winter's day she's a proper dog for the stubble's lol,she just shivers like a Whippet, she can be a kinky thick ignorant b*****d too yet can be as obedient as a field trial Lab on other days.I know Darcy had the brother it went to pastures new as it was a nervy, thick f****r aswell.. Definitely no more Romeo blood here,Razor dogs I know of are all big strong, aggressive runners, very biddable, bold & game as they come..Better producer if you want more than a one trick pony in my eyes or even if you want to just work your dog on a proper wet mid winters day because them Romeo dogs just don't like the cold lol Quote Link to post

FUJI 17,324
Pity it's turned out that way Fuji cos I know you put the time and effort in to them pal and have the years of experience to do so, Don't get me wrong mate the dog can gallop a bit,he's seen enough & caught a bit in the process. He is a big strong, fast dog yet he's more relaxed in his running style then what's ideal for most of the country bar the flat land,he likes the chase & i think he knows he has the staying power to run a long one,I think he'd do well there & after all I suppose that is what he is bred for. He's great on other stuff,no messing about, great hunter, fantastic jumper, traveller etc..He's just so immature & can on occasions out of the blue just do things that no one could or should have to put up with lol,he's here at my feet & not a bother in the world but I know it won't last haha..How lads run these at 8/9 months old beggars belief it really does, hopefully with the spring/summer on his back he will mature a little,he seriously needs too!! He's a big tidy animal now standing 28tts & weighing 73lb ..He tests my metal I tell you,he'd be long dead had 99% of other lurchermen had him i know that much.. 1 Quote Link to post

brambles 3,247
I've got one out of Romeo here aswell and she's been a delight to own, haven't hammered her but everything I've put in front of her she's done really well, brought the dog up here from a fella near you Fuji and I knew I couldn't have her as an out and out daytime dog she's been lamped, ferreted, coursed, mooched about with and been shooting and retrieving birds, only thing she ain't seen is teeth but I've no interest in them at all. Temperament is great recall first class and most of all Scared of feck all, weather rain snow sleet don't bother her, in fact from what I've had out of her up to now I'd have another tomorrow, oh what really surprised me was her nose she uses it really well, down falls well she is really wreck less around cover always follows her prey without slowing which will lead to injuries and she's really soft mouthed not a cruncher if it retrievable it is if to big she happy to get a good grip and hold lol but she's young experience will prevail. 3 Quote Link to post
