Stud dog 632
I've been thinking about it for abit now an I've made my own mind up on this only my opinion not wanting a argument but if I was going for a coursing dog the two that are at the top of the game an keep getting talked about are lucas an bulldozer so if I was going for a pup in my opinion the place to get a pup is the parents of the two dog now I don't know if there still around but if you get a good un don't breed from that breed from what produced that good un don't want a slagging match my opinion ATB 2 Quote Link to post

davey 310
I read an Article about frankel and in it it mentioned £ 250000 for his stud fee !! And his sire gallalio was price on application so breed of the proven . But it will change as soon as frankel produces his first group one winner Quote Link to post

desertbred 5,490
Surely purity is the way if you continually dilute cordial with water then surely sooner or later you end up with water. Genetics is a new science only just in the process of discovery at the minute luck forms % of success genetics forms 20%.Would some one take a thorough bred race horse and cross it to a heavy horse for speed ? they may to increase weight carrying ability or stamina hence Arab stallions being used in the 18th century. When lines such as the stalwarts of the old coursing lines Seagull , Merli, EVE etc are in the lines how much influence do these actually have decades down the road unless tightly line bred? 1 Quote Link to post
ROBERTO M 350
Pure blood ??? do they need it or not ??? most coursing lines are related now as people are using the same blood because it works , and most won't risk putting pure blood into there dogs incase they get plodders , but as you said fresh blood is needed now and then , How many hares were retreived in the saluki coursing club comp ??/ is there any real good salukis worth breeding of now????? , ones that are durable enough to run any land big and small , as thats what type of dog people need now more than ever , i think the modern day saluki isn't what it was , you need a dog/bitch that can run strong hares to breed of, and i don't think there are any pure salukis that do it now , i maybe wrong but i would have to see it to belive it I owned one 20 years ago and she looked good on average hares but looked like most salukis on a good one just didn't have the minerals , i think if there was a genuine imported dog or bitch from genuine working lines that could actually run and not just look preety would be worth its weight in gold Edited April 23, 2015 by ROBERTO M 5 Quote Link to post

ROBERTO M 350
maybe not you obviously own some , enlighten me ??? its just my opinion on salukies Quote Link to post
desertbred 5,490
Salukies are like marmite you like them or you dont, There are a few dogs that work on a regular basis and far from being the suggested plodders they will work all quarry which means they are true working dogs in all senses of the word not just old puss bashers.Over a season they account for decent amounts of stuff, maybe not the big numbers alledgedly retreived on a regular basis by the coursing to coursing bred dogs but lads have some good times retreiving all sorts of stuff that what makes a working dog .
