Guest devonlamper
Went out with dog, first time since last winter, saw her first rabbit, gave it the chase, caught it then thats where the trouble started. She came part way back with rabbit put it down, crunched it, i walked towards her she kept running off and proceded to eat it. Last winter she worked very well, retrieving nearly to hand dont know why she has done it, any ideas lads. Shes a 3/4 1/4 greyhound collie. Quote Link to post

Guest Doug
Take her ferreting, mate, until she's got used to catching rabbits again and it isn't such a novelty. Smarten up her retrieving at home as well. Sounds like she's just got a bit rusty. Quote Link to post
jjbull 38
dont go towards the dog either try running away to get her to follow then turn round sharpish and fluke a retreive then pour on the praise, might work Quote Link to post

scouse moocher 0
Like every ones said, if it was her first time out she may just be a bit rusty and excited at the face she's caught a bunny and aint done since last season. Next few trips out if the problem persists I'd re-introduce the dummy or whatever method you prefer for polishing her retrieving skills up. If she worked well last year she knows her job, just a case of screwin her head back on. Best of luck Ant Quote Link to post
