BGD 6,436
no dog is born dangerous they are made that way, Here we go again ........How romantic !Dogs get labelled as mad or bad because folk can't understand a certain behaviorGuaranteed, this dogs nature as a high temperament breed wasn't been fulfilled Hugely driven dogs in the wrong hands is an accident waiting to happen Dogs don't just turn , they become like a ticking time bomb and unfortunately for this poor woman was in the wrong place when the dog finally boiled over, Dogs certainly don't just turn without showing any warning signs but to say that no dogs are just born evil feckers is naive at best.

I agree some dogs are born displaying more primal behaviours than others, but ultimatley they follow there instinct to be part of a pack, and happily will conform to what's expected of them, if that's communicated in a way they understand, with a dog comes real responsibility , they should not be emotional teddy bears, for some kid who's bored, that's my opinion, I have been around dogs for almost 50 yr and never had a bad one,if I am naive then I am happy to be naive,

Casso 1,261
The big problem with discussions about dogs and on here in particular is the use of human concepts , bad , evil , wrong one , all human term and generally used when we can't quite understand a behavior If it was any other animal we would just say it's was Mother nature but dogs seem to be above that description , we have to put there behavior in a special Human/ canine box all of its own So instead off looking at canine concepts more closely and how we keep them and what they need , we just label them as off the wall and ban the breeds concerned , I would expect the terms evil and bad on a Pet dog site but on a Hunting site just gives the antis more cred , when a whole range of dogs could be called evil because they kill things Edited March 23, 2015 by Casso
gnasher16 30,025
I think people use human concepts and words like bad or evil because we are human beings communicating with simple to understand words........i guess we could all get into strictly correct scientific babble but its a very basic conversation about nasty dogs why over complicate it. Casso 1,261
So a dog is the only animal in the entire animal kingdom that attacks with purely evil intent , whereas other attacks by large mammals are triggered through instinct or are they all evil deep down

So a dog is the only animal in the entire animal kingdom that attacks with purely evil intent , whereas other attacks by large mammals are triggered through instinct or are they all evil deep down Maybe evil is the wrong word but a real true man-biter isn't doing it out of fear or self preservation they do it because they found out that fighting and attacking people is fun. The dog I mention above was never happier than when he was putting the fear of god into someone, you could tell he loved the reactions he got. Think about how the most dog aggressive bulldog acts towards other dogs, every so often you come across a dog that's just wired wrong and reacts like that to people too. Dog have been bred to suit the whims of people, natural instinct doesn't really come into it anymore. Edited March 23, 2015 by BGD

Once a pitbull and the second an American bulldog. I saw the am bull from 6 weeks to 2 years, and from 8 weeks, you knew that there were "summat wrong" with the way it was wired. Quarter bull 240
Dogs are pack animals, some are more dominate than others, some more aggressive than others, there animals at the end of the day just tamed, same as any animal in the wild.

But any breed of dog can be born nasty , its just in them from day 1 . the prob is some breeds that are powerful with strong jaws can inflict massive damage very quick, where small type breed with the same type temp carnt do that damage . I ve always thought certain breeds are not pet material , not just apbt's bel mals, mastiffs, rotties, gsd's staffs , all breeds that are very powerful dogs that if something goes wrong with them they can do a lot of damage. ive moved to a new place and on this place there a lot of common ground, and I meet quite a lot of people with there kids and pet dogs. And being honest most breeds of dogs that ive seen here over 6 months are, cockers, golden retrievers , poodle xcockers, jack x terriers , all nice family type pet dog easy control +handle ,and it made think that some people are deff getting the wrong breeds ,like just what happened ive got 2 big dogs both soft things, that love people and good with other dogs, I think in general most lurchers have good temps, because there worked and the owners put a lot of times into them, ive had bullxs, colliexs, bitza , and got gsd xgrey that big daft thing lol , its picking the right type dogs in the 1st place, and if it goes wrong as it can with any dog, you should be able to deal with it with right dog ,!!
