FFS. Exactly! You can do far worse & get off a lot lighter........it's a scary thought if that sets a precedent.... Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,328
Ffs,that's an absolute joke of the highest order!! I've never known anything like that in my life, all for a poxy b*****d rabbit..might as well go badger digging and cull the New Forests deer population and make paying the fine worthwhile..f***ing ridiculous that!!!! 2 Quote Link to post

J Darcy 5,871
Can you actually "Poach" vermin, if it was a Hare maybe, but a rabbit!! I thought it was trespass in pursuit of game... A rabbit is classed as game when it is taken illegally. If taken legally it is not classed as game. 1 Quote Link to post
Hareydave 1,214
did Hampshire police own the rabbit why the money awarded to them 1 Quote Link to post
Maximus Ferret 2,063
did Hampshire police own the rabbit why the money awarded to them Dead right Dave, there's something wrong there and the lad should appeal. This magistrates ordered him to pay compensation to Hampshire police when he hasn't wronged them. It sounds like he's making the law up as he goes!!!! I'm sure a poaching fine can't be that high for one rabbit and if it can I'm glad I don't live in that police state anymore. 1 Quote Link to post

keepitcovert 842
Sign of the times im afraid, savage sentence for such a trivial thing, good job transportation isnt still an option. Problem is there are loads of self appointed gamekeepers among the public these days, who have nothing better to do. I had a little skirmish with the police on land i had permission on my dog had caught a rabbit and 5 mins later choppers overhead following me round the field police cars charging down all the nearby lanes, and end result was a talking to by a couple of wpcs that didnt know their arse from their elbow about hunting laws, i reckon the cost to the public was about 3 grand, obviously they dont have anything better to waste the resources on.
