Haven't we had the lowest tides in something like ten years?

that's right yesterday was the lowest one. We saw sand banks here that I never saw dry before. And the weather was great for walking the shore.

Ah now isn't it great living on shore  saying that I've not went scouting in a while. Last thing I had off shore was willicks aka winkles.

Folk look at me very oddly when I eat them sort of disgust expression  I like them.

I'm hungry now after reading this

winkles are nice. Lovely in a soup.I think it's 80 euros a bag here now. But a lot of back breaking work to gather that amount. Do you dig razor fish up where ye are.

I'm gutted I didn't get down my local beach for the razors!

razor fish is lovely if cooked right imo. Either flash fryed in a wok or deep pan or slowly cooked in a stew or soup . I find if not cooked properly it becomes very chewy and stringery. A bit squid realy.

Does anyone salt mackerel in the summer months. I love it. And it lasts for ages.

also salted wrasse. After a few of them you would drink any brewery or lake dry lol. There was a time ever house would have their roofs covered in salted fish drying them out after the pickling before been salted and stored. Not many do it now though. Shame really.
