RemyBolt 420
Just looking around at different scopes and mounts to try out, and I came across the issue of suitability on certain objectives. Then I thought…what the funk?! I now have options like 53mm objectives and others like 67mm or something like that. All I want is a lower profile scope mount for a 1 inch scope for a crumby dovetail rail. What's all this objectives crap mean?
jonnie bravo 572
I've been looking at scopes a hell of a lot recently, trying to get a set up sorted that will work for my gun. If you want the lowest profile possible using low mounts you will probably have to use a scope with a 32mm objective (the lense nearest the muzzle) my scope is 40mm objective and I had to use medium sportsmatch mounts. Scopes with AO adjustable objective are much bulkier and might need higher mounts. Hope that helps.
RemyBolt 420
Right, I think I get you. So if I'm using a 3-12x50 scope, that would be a 50mm objective, right?

jonnie bravo 572
Spot on mate the outside diameter will be a bit bigger than 50mm though, I bought low mounts expecting the scope to fit and you can guess the rest
