Been to Canada a few times stunning place ... my mate nearly got eaten by a cougar lol ... my daughter may be moving from Japan to Canada Next year fingers crossed I will be in my element in cabelas ......

your daughters a long way from home socks, japan, if i remember right, she was going to Edmonton wasn't it?

them cougars can be dangerous, that's why they have more concerns about them near people, my father-in-law shot a cougar as it was stalking his brother on a rock face above him, whilst they were out hunting bears, he also shot a grizzly aswell,

Yes mate Japan at the moment and Edmonton if she makes the move next year .......

fingers crossed the move comes off.....your have some good holidays if she does.... ;)

Hopefully mate ... she is studying for a masters so she may come back here if it's cheaper but I think the long term plan is for them to move out to Canada where he is from so sooner or later I will be back out there ......

Cabelas will send stuff,as for traps,in suitcases that's not an issue,I have done that before, even brought a bow in a hard case and associated kit like broad heads and it sailed through. What boots you get from them Qb I am after a couple of pair but the range is overwhelming when your confronted with row after row of decent footwear,I saw a pair yesterday that are suitable for wearing at temps of -50

Have you seen a Cougar yet or any big predators?

No mate, tills area has the highest density of cougar in Canada, and the highest number of black bear in an a province, this province has the second highest number of black bear, when we were picked up at the airport there was two white tailed deer feeding on the roadside on the short drive home, seen mainly waterfowl since I have been here, lots of geese and duck, and seen quite a few whitetail in the city and the outskirts, saw one yesterday grazing near some houses.Tilly, got a month here, got here last Monday,Christmassy family stuff, got some mates from Sunderland "the cod squad" going near you next September, their annual fishing trip, they are going for salmon and halibut

what's the temperature/weather like over that side at the moment? it's been very wet hear for the last month or so, but not cold

-12 with windchill here today Tilly, and a blanket of snow,I am getting some fresh caribou for dinner from a guy who works for larga-Baffin up in Nunavut,he lives in Ottawa though,he said I should visit him,I just looked at the flight $2600 return for an internal, expensive.

it's 9 degrees and sunny here today mac, makes a change as it's been very wet of late, caribou sounds nice for dinner bud, that is the big problem in Canada, i must say, flights anywhere can be expensive, it's because the airport grounds are government owned, and the company's have to pay extortionate ground rent, thus...making your flight expensive....a friend of ours flew home to Ontario from Calgary, costing $800, Britain has got a good travel rate, if you can pick and choose your time/flight, we flew here for £300-odd each when visiting friends, funny enough tho, when we moved over here permanent it was cheaper to buy a return ticket, than a one way ticket, don't ask me how that works, i'm still scratching my head on that one... :hmm:

Yes mate,I have priced internals and trips to places like Churchill and Nunavut,I have done internals all over the place in places like Pakistan and Indonesia that were cheap as chips, here that Nunavut flight would get me a fishing trip to Thailand from the U.K,swings and roundabouts.Just need to save a little more cash when I get back home as this coming Black Friday is going to skirt me.
