Immigrating To Canada

Booking holiday to Canada in Aug.starting in Vancouver,any suggestions to werd to visit.hunting,fishing.may rent s small cabin near water if poss.is hiring a car the way,or ?got wife and kids coming too.

good to here your having a holiday here mate, you will love it, you wont want to go back home, i couldn't point you in the right direction for Vancouver but i would expect its the same as most places you just buy a fishing licence and pretty much fish anywhere, if you go to a cabella's store you can pick up a fishing guide as to where the lakes/rivers are, and what your allowed to fish for, the guys there will tell you what to use as bait/lure,they are really friendly people, even drew me a map to help, i fished Vancouver island BC, Yellowknife NWT, (obviously different licences), in BC renting a cabin by the lake is most peoples dream which pushes the price up, Vancouver can be pricey, you definitely need a car tho, try and get one included in a package deal back home, as they can work out dearer hear as we found out the hard way once.....lol, if your wife and kids are into fishing, your have the best time, if there not........your screwed............no only joking! lol, there's still other things, nice shopping malls with an array of different foods, good picnic areas, scenic walks, usually good restaurants in most places, points of interest are all around the place, i hope there's no vegetarians amongst you, as the steaks here are to die for, big,fat,thick,juicy,and cheap! yum yum. tilly

think were booking Canada after florida here soon, to be honest I'd rather get dropped off in Canada and let the others enjoy florida lol

on hold til I have a holiday there 1st next summer, she fancies canada too but we want to see it and get the feelers out before we commit, but it's def something were considering

ah i see, that's good to hear, nice one, what part are you going to? as you know we are in Calgary and Alberta is in recession at the mo, the province relies on oil and the oil is very poor at the mo,we are looking at other places to live for the future, dont exactly know at this moment, but time will tell.

Qbgrey August u will have plenty of salmon species to go at and sturgeon in the Fraser. As mentioned find a tackle shop and enquire in there. As a non resident hunting options will be limited and expensive, only real option will be going with a guide which ain't cheap. PM me if u want more info. Gaz.

Pike and walleye mate,won't be till next week however as we are going to have a guided tour of an underground 4 storey 300 room cold War nuclear bunker over the weekend,it was built to withstand a 5 megaton blast from 2 kilometres,looks an interesting place.

You know how to enjoy yourself mate lol

Went into that Cold War bunker earlier today,incredible place,Morgan freeman did some filming in it for "The sum of all fears",inside an innocuouse looking building you have a 300 metre blast tunnel then a 4 ton steel door behind which are 2x2 ton steel doors,went into the war room,75 feet down into the vault,the morgue,even a fully equipped hospital that could handle all surgery except open heart,fascinating stuff,glad I have a few more weeks left here as there's loads of stuff to do.

Interesting stuff. Like you say, you wouldn't have thought all that would be underneath your feet when outside the front door. Could do with one of them when my mrs goes off on one.

If I was a kid,in my 20's I would move here like a shot,it's a "Can Do" country,still got the pioneer spirit,it's a land of freedom,opportunity,space to breath away from the crowd,I went to church last Saturday with my missus family,I am not religious at all but church to them is a family tradition,the place was packed standing room at the back,Canadians in general are nice people,manners haven't died out here.I saw a small flock of wild turkey yesterday scratching around in the snow,first time I have ever seen them,and I met a woman in an archery shop the other day who told me how she arrowed a moose in Quebec,she told me that some parts of Canada 1 person in every 20 hunts,it's accepted here.I think one of my kids is going to end up living here so I will be here quite often,Tilly I think your a lucky guy,and I hope you share your future adventures on here,the gold mining looks incredible.

hi mack, it does feel good being here, every thing you said in your post is spot on, other bonuses are, when you buy a car for example,you get a pink slip with the info, you then take it to a registry offices (there dotted all around the area) you pay for the registry,they then give you your number plate, you buy 1 or 2 years road tax, stick the tax sticker on your plate and that's it, done,same with your driving licence (same place) hand in yours, you get given a temporary one, that's it, not like dvla at home, what was annoying that bugged me, they took my motorbike category off my licence, so iv'e got to redo the test again, god dammit! there are only three countries that get to keep there motor bike licences, Australia, Switzerland,and the isle of man,bummer, also my wife needed an x-ray, you look up the x-ray centres for your area, no appointment needed you just walk in, wait, get an x-ray, done, they then give you a disc with all the x-ray pics on, you can put it in your laptop and have a look at the results for yourself, if you know what your looking for lol, add this to what you said mack and its looking rosey,

where about's is your daughter going to be in Alberta,? that's were we are, if you are thinking about the move,do it sooner rather than later, it took friends of ours three years to get the approval, but they didn't have any connections here, as my wife is canadian she sponsored me which took nine months,
