unlacedgecko 1,466
Fireman you dug a hole for ur self when saying you couldn't give a feck I for one respect the fox as I hope mamy others do if I have a call I keep it too myself cause im a bit ashamed of it It is possible to have respect for an animal and still hunt them. No need to feel ashamed for acting within the law and delivering a pest control service to landowners... 1 Quote Link to post

Dabhand 887
If people struggle to find during the winter they wont do themselves going through the summer Quote Link to post

Fireman it was a genuine question, the thread was about how did your season go? Fair enough your still digging Cubs ect but what sort of winter did you have? Did you have a lot of digs or did you struggle to find? Cubs are easy to find we all know that I haven't dug any cubs yet myself this year and to be honest i don't want to as there a pain in the arse but if a keeper asks me to i'll have a go as i got a terrier that will bring cubs out to me but if there undiggable then gas is used.I do redpect the fox and know it needs time off to breed etc but like i say if i say no then i loose my permission. As for how we got on a bit of a slow start due to the mild weather but we've had enough to keep me and the mutts happy enough i ain't wasting my time and sorry if i came across rude but you know how it is and yes respect the fox very highly and said i don't care to the knockers rather than the fox himself .... fat man 4,741
I reckon if a keeper or land owner needs it diging then it has to be done but a lot of lads get a kick out of diging cubs, same lads that you wont see come winter, there tucked up under the blankets.I also know men that keep terriers and will use snares just for the sake of it and come winter complain that there is f-all foxs about, when needs must it has to be done but otherwise your just killing your own sport for next season. 1 Quote Link to post

Rabbit Hunter 6,613
I know a few that are out at this time of year and then again late summer, but come the cold, hard winter months you don't hear off them. Fine weather hunters, not just terrier lads either, plenty of lurcher lads the same. 1 Quote Link to post

Think you misread my comment. I said it was possible to hunt an animal and still have respect for it. Best get yourself off to SpecSavers... I also said there is no need to be ashamed for delivering a humane and legal past control service to landowners. As that it what terrier work is all about. Pest control. No where have I said I hate the fox. I don't appreciate your implying that I'm a clown full of bravado. I don't recognise your username. Have we met? Or are you making sweeping judgements from...what? 2 Quote Link to post

Mixedgrill 704
Still going i am(don't give two fecks whether folk have stopped due to cubs or not,i do pest control and leaving foxes to breed don't come into it on the shoots i do ) and had a call out today from a keeper within sight of my house ,a awkward little dig around some big old roots though but the russell saw the job through and a very fluffy dog fox was stopped from nicking any more phesants .Seasons gone just fine for me as if the season isn't bad enough for some folks and you get a toolhead like this killing cubs all summer in the name of pest control your the only pest.bet you tell everyone killed 40 foxes this summer and only 5 that winter Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
LOL, Mixedgrill, is there any chance one of the reasons you had such a bad season is because of your lack of understanding of terrierwork and pest control ? Without pest control there's not much justification for terrierwork. Well done Fireman, nice humane job. Quote Link to post
Mixedgrill 704
every time you come on here you keep tryin your best to belittle people and undermine what folks say if you think there's justification in killing cubs just cause you'll loose permission Neil so be it...but you've done plenty for terrier work in Ireland by sticking your face in a book just to become famous makes you feel good dose it bet you were bully in school Quote Link to post
