Tyla 3,179
My missus is looking at one from Dogger on this site, anyone had any experience with this cross? Quote Link to post
kreet 0
got experience with bothe breeds but not with the cross im getting the bitch from the litter and have seen the pups they seem to be quite whippety in there shape . i would think they will turn out handy enough wee dogs and im sure with the training and time they will be quite able on the lamp and as a ferreting partner and bushing wont be a problem . im sure old charlie wouldnt be much hastle single handed eather as the father is a sturdy we tool so would say over all they will turn out awrite we working dogs aslong as you dont want something that will take a day light hare from a 100 yards or fallow/red deer then they should manage anything else id say . They sound good. We are arranging transport down to sussex, poor little sod will be knackered by the time he gets here. Just so happens my girlfriend's mate's mum is driving down from inverness next week, what are the chances!?!?! The pups for my missus and i hope to work him alongside my bitch, shes got the legs but not really interested in cover, they should be a good combination i hope! Quote Link to post

borderboy 80
they can make quality little bushing and ratting dogs... and i knew of one which would try its heart out on anything... was a little nutty at times, but that might have just been the dog... Quote Link to post
squirreltail 15
Why would anyone cross a jack russell with a whippet? It took donkeys years to perfect the breeding of the whippet adding terrier blood years ago then breeding the short legs out, why bring them in again whats the point? The working whippet is just about perfection just as he is. hairyface 211
anybody got any pics of this cross? Quote Link to post
shepp 2,285
My mate had one many years ago, it was like a miniture whippet with a jack russel brain. Struggled to catch out in the open but was an excellent bushing dog in the dense bramble cover in my area. I have always fancied one myself, from the right parents. Do you know if the russel is a leggy type? Quote Link to post
kreet 0
he's inbetween not realy short but isnt long legged but he's pritty stocky the bitch is a normal size maybe just a bit bigger than your standard working whippet . as i say the had more the whippet shape when i saw them than the terrier as i have a 9 month old whippet who iv had from 6weeks and a 10 week old jrt who iv had from 6 weeks and id say at 3 weeks they were the size my jrt bitch is now and more whippet shaped head and leggs . if i pick mine up at the weekend ill post picks for the boy of the ones left as i forgot my camera the last time . jonathan 0
you will be better of with a beddy whippet there alot more harder then that cross and a beddyx will do everythink from ferreting to lamping rabbits and i never seen a beddy whippet take fox but i would say they would try coz my 3/4 cross take fox and the same sort of size as a beddy whippet would be but just not as fast Quote Link to post
brother fox 1
Should put a bit of bark into a whippet. Quote Link to post
