Low Carb Diet

Recommended Posts

max you can lose 3 or 4 stone easy honest, its how strong you are upstairs that should define how much you lose, i oncelost 36 pounds in four months, like i say two pound a week my body loses everytime i start one, i find youve mentally got to be ready to start the diet to succeed,,, i started a cutback a month ago but was ready i knew i wasnt so stopped, best of luck.

You sound exactly like me mate. I love food and that's my downfall. But when I'm determined I can cut weight to what I want to be 2 months.

I always promise myself after I hit my target weight I won't put a little back on again but I always do.

I never let it get out of hand nowadays though.

Same here , been on a low carb diet for 6 weeks , lost 12 pounds on it... I feel better than I have ever done , eating around 250 grms of chicken a day . greens , no bread or spuds which I don't eat a

Bit dodge not eating any crabs,,, isn't that called ketosis or something like that,,,, think your body eats up muscle as well as fat when the body is like that   Keep the carbs low yes,,,, but don't

I've never set foot in a gym, but I have gone through periods of cycling hard, without changing a thing with my diet & I've lost a bit weight......an active lifestyle has to better than doing f**k

That's another myth that always gripes me, the gym! It seems to have creeped in to popular opinion that to lose weight you HAVE to go to the gym or be more active.... COMPLETE FALLACY!

As long as this myth continues to be pushed by all the authorities and experts and Joe in the chip shop normal people who want to shift a stone or two but are not part of any fitness circles will get nowhere.

Weight is lost through calorie deficit. Concentrate on your time in the kitchen, forget the gym unless cardiovascular fitness or physical performance is also a consideration.

If a person wants to improve their car it makes sense to walk in a garage to seek advice...........this entire topic is a perfect example of why a gym is a good place to seek opinions......telling people trying to improve their body to forget the gym is like telling people trying to improve their car engine to just lift the bonnet and fiddle about with stuff !

The average overweight none athlete does not have to join a gym to lose weight and achieve the goals they want. If their goals are to develop a more muscular build or improve physical performance then of course they have to include a training programme and more complex diet.

So the better alternative for those people who lack the knowledge is to do what.....go on a random hunting forum ? model aeroplane forum ? music ?..................or go ask in a gym ?.......worst ways a diet/fitness forum ?

I learned the hard way about giving people off the internet who i dont know advice on health/diet/training and promised god i would never do it again hence my advice would be " if you want advice on your car go to a garage " .......etc etc.

And you're absolutely right, I haven't said otherwise. You took my "you don't need to join a gym to lose weight comment" and inferred that I was telling people NOT to join a gym. I wasn't telling anybody to do anything, just having a little rant.

Not sure I've given any advice at all, just tried to stimulate a bit of apparently unwelcome discussion. Hence I'm trying to make an effort to f**k off.

Just trying to speak too those that are doing, done it, interested in it, normal blokes & Kay ;) Was hoping Gnasher would input, for his own opinions, and what he has seen around him, but he's just ended up disagreeing with you LOL!

Im not disagreeing with him mate i havent read through all of it but the bits ive seen i think he,s speaking a lot of sense for the most part......i just think its common sense to seek advice on diet and the body from strong healthy experienced people who stand before you.....im not having a pop at anyone but having been a gym owner a number of years now ive seen lads roll in with their level 2 and 3 diplomas throwing all these long words and fancy theories around explaining the importance of a positive nitrogen balance word for word from their cyclopedic medical dictionary and reeling off the molecular formula of Phenylalanine like its second nature........yet cant recognise something basic in front of their eyes like simple overtraining or dont have the basic personality to motivate people.....im still old school a pretty little lad with a perfectly aligned set of abs and a brain full of book knowledge doesnt impress me id rather see knowledge than hear it hence to me its more important getting folk into gyms if diet/health/fitness is on their mind.

Telling people things like " forget the gym " unless they want to get fit or improve performance is bad advice and simply backwards of basic physical health and wellbeing.......weight loss should never be dictated by numbers on a set of scales.

most of this is nonsense. A calorie is a calorie no matter what and going to low om carbs is a bad thing. Wouldnt go below 50 gram a daY and thats seriously hard to do. Unless you plan on competing i would just eat below your maintenance calories and exercise a bit more often

I tried a gym & quite frankly it was a miserable experience...so for the time being I hope to contine a healthier diet with the odd treat like a beer without going back to my old diet

This guy is making a lot of sense.

Weight loss is big business at the moment.

Look at these f***ing ""health bars" meant to be a healthy snack but contain pretty much the same amount of sugar as a cocking mars bar!

That and smoothies make me angry. Again, because they are made of fruit they are meant to be healthy, but guess what... Full of sugar, you may as well just water down a vitamin tablet and some sugar cubes. Also, take innocent fruit smoothies, their advertising is all cute and cuddly and friendly and hippyfied... They are majority owned by coca cola!!

Rant over.

I was one of those shit bags that could eat whatever he wanted and never put on weight, for my job I have always done a lot of physical activity and weight training etc etc but that hasn't changed.

On my 30th birthday I got a quick glance at my birthday cake and instantly put on 10 stone! Alright that's an exaggeration but my metabolism must have slowed because now I put on weight like a beast.

I am more careful now what I eat... Or rather what is in what I eat. I.e. Sugar content. I don't think I really eat a lot less volume of food, and I am still as active, I still train, but just things like completely cutting out fizzy drinks, eating home made instead of processed etc etc really help to stop me podging out.
