Low Carb Diet

Recommended Posts

max you can lose 3 or 4 stone easy honest, its how strong you are upstairs that should define how much you lose, i oncelost 36 pounds in four months, like i say two pound a week my body loses everytime i start one, i find youve mentally got to be ready to start the diet to succeed,,, i started a cutback a month ago but was ready i knew i wasnt so stopped, best of luck.

thats what happened to me last year when i woke up one morning & didnt have a fag & haven't had one since , not saved any money as i was spending it on sugary crap & increased my weight by 2 stone  .. but thats life I guess, its slowly coming off so its cool

Same here , been on a low carb diet for 6 weeks , lost 12 pounds on it... I feel better than I have ever done , eating around 250 grms of chicken a day . greens , no bread or spuds which I don't eat a

Bit dodge not eating any crabs,,, isn't that called ketosis or something like that,,,, think your body eats up muscle as well as fat when the body is like that   Keep the carbs low yes,,,, but don't

I've never set foot in a gym, but I have gone through periods of cycling hard, without changing a thing with my diet & I've lost a bit weight......an active lifestyle has to better than doing f**k

I try and eat low carb and limited sugar , i have a bit of whole meal bread instead of white , grated cauliflower instead of rice

The GI index is a good source of info also a book called carbs and cal proteins and fat is good for refrence

Way too much is made out of 'how to diet' and 'bad foods' to the point where 99% of the public haven't a clue how to control their own bodies and so become completely disillusioned with even trying.

There is only one way to lose weight and that is by creating a calorie deficit!

Work out your macronutrient requirements through a very simple trial period of calorie counting and then once you have your maintenance calories create a deficit. Everyone has smart phones these day so download a fitness app and track your intake.

I've got a mate that has done every fad diet going, always wanting to lean up for a holiday but never getting anywhere. Low carbs, 5:2 fasting etc. 6 weeks of simple calorie counting and he dropped the weight piece of piss.

The only way any diet will cause weight loss is through a direct or indirect calorie deficit. So why restrict yourself from certain 'bad foods'?

I weigh everything I eat , stick to 1200 calories a day which is working for me , the reason I have cut out the simple carbs is because as fast as you eat them you come down from the sugar rush then your in the pantry looking for more crap , my diet consists of mainly chicken usually oven cooked ,veg ,i dont eat spuds so i stick to cauliflower ,carrots ,brocoli ...... I use a fair amount of white fish or tuna . plenty of fruit ,not keen on bananas ,but i am mindful of weighing out grapes & keeping a count of the calories I am consuming daily I think a steady 1 to 2 lbs a week is a safer way to loose excess weight

That's spot on, you understand the basic principle and adapt your diet to what YOU want not what some fella who's trying to sell a book says you should. I would be f****d without carbs and besides they're delicious! Simple as well as complex!

It's just important that people realise that carbs, fat, pizzas, cheese burgers, chocolate etc are not bad or the enemy of weight loss, having a wild calorie surplus is the enemy... Full stop.

Even on a low carb diet, if you eat to a calorie surplus you will gain weight.

Exactly someone munching there way through 5000 calories worth of food a day is going to have to be burning off at least 3000's worth to simply maintain there current weight. my problem was I wasnt using up the excess  hence the 2 stone weight gain, I am finding that eating more protein is keeping me topped up & unless i take root on the sofa I should carry on loosing the excess that i need to loose with the current activity I am doing

I tried a gym & quite frankly it was a miserable experience...so for the time being I hope to contine a healthier diet with the odd treat like a beer without going back to my old diet

I'm probably the last person to give advice on weight lose :icon_redface::icon_redface:

but about 5 years ago my son asked me to join the gym with him as he was recovering from a badly broken leg I agreed and when i got there i got on the scales and couldn't believe what it said 23 STONE :icon_eek::icon_eek: and at 6 foot it showed (not to me though ) anyway after about 10 months of going there at least 3 times a week and working like f**k also riding to work twice a week ( 10 mile round trip ) i lost 5 1/2 stone and felt great .

i haven't been back for a while and have put back on a few stone and now at 42 its harder to shift so with a good diet and plenty of the right exercise i will get back down to good weight again .

A good quality, varied & everything 'cooked from scratch' diet & an active lifestyle.....you can't go wrong...

I eat lots of everything! white meat, red meat, lots of fish, lots of different fruit & veg, pulses, all kinds of different carbs......the only thing that's ever put weight on me is Belgian beer, that's a killer.....but thats easily dealt with :-)

That's another myth that always gripes me, the gym! It seems to have creeped in to popular opinion that to lose weight you HAVE to go to the gym or be more active.... COMPLETE FALLACY!

As long as this myth continues to be pushed by all the authorities and experts and Joe in the chip shop normal people who want to shift a stone or two but are not part of any fitness circles will get nowhere.

Weight is lost through calorie deficit. Concentrate on your time in the kitchen, forget the gym unless cardiovascular fitness or physical performance is also a consideration.

Seasons finished for me & summer is almost here..

More spare time & the bikes will be out of the shed & definitely going hit the gym, a few more times a week.

I don't know how true it is..

Lad down the gym told me its 80% diet..

I had personal trainer for a while and got beasted and put on a shit load of muscle, looked more trim but never really nailed the diet.
