Help Bullet Stuck In Barrel

Hi i have a remmington 17hmr round that has misfired and a round is stuck in the barrel at the breach .

 

How do i remove it i have tried my cleaning rod no joy.

Cleaning rod, brass bar etc, something that will not damage the barrel. Try and tap it back.

 

Whatever you do, do NOT be tempted in the slightest to try and fire another round behind it. You WILL end up with disastrous consequences

I miss my hmr but am sometimes glad I sold it. As the lads said use a brass rod and try tapping it out with a small hammer. If not spray a little oil down the barrel and prop the rifle barrel up and let it soak in then give it another go

Crappy Ammo. oh dear, I got rid of my HMR ages ago, noisy, wouldn't kill a fox, (just rubbish in my opinion) ammo with no powder is where you are you are bud, just

the primer squirting the bullet 1/2" up the barrel. At least you noticed.

A decent knock from the 'sharp' end with the cleaning rod (if you have one, again many don't cos a proper one is £40) they didn't mention that when they

sold it to you did they?

Good luck, get a 22.250 instead proper job.

Cheers all got it sorted a freind helped me with a stiffer rod . He also advise me that a 22 magnum would be a sensable approach .

The Hornet is suited to the reloader, it's much cheaper shoot than the HMR if you reload and will stand up to the wind no problem.

My Hornet (.22) is good out to 150 yards, haven't really tried it beyond that.Even it is affected by the wind, that's 2" drift on the target.

Not sure bud. The reason I sold my hmr is i needed a longer range and a more suited foxing rifle as I have a .22lr For the bunnies. I have a .22-250 and it's incredibly flat shooting although I'm paying close to £1.90 a bullet it certainly doesn't disappoint. 200 yard zero and I'm practicly point and shoot out to 300 yards on Charlie. Awesome round and very good fun for long range rabbits and Corvids.

The HMR is perfectly capable of stopping foxes in one shot, I did it yet again on Thursday night at 100 yards, 17g V Max, a big dog, just under 20lb.

 

The HMR has issues, no question, but if you need what it does it can be a very useful tool.

 

WMR was mentioned earlier, yet another very capable fox tool, as is the Hornet, and other .22centrefires, .243 etc etc.

 

Each has a place and a use on foxes, none is better than the other per se, they are each as good as each other when used within their capabilities.

Strangely perhaps I have not had an HMR stuck in the barrel, (I now have 100+ split cases though), one day no doubt. I have had hang fires, dead and barrel stuck .22LR which is interesting, with various other calibres and shotgun carts failing to go bang too.

Sell that noisy little pop gun, and get a hornet pal, the hornet is a very capable fox rifle out to 200 yards, if you dont wish to reload and dont mind the price Hornady 35 gn v-max factory ammo is very good indeed, and usually performs almost as well as home loads, but the way to make the hornet shine is to reload for it, my prefered load was 11gns of h110 under a Sierra 45 gn varmint bullet, I estimate about 18-20 pence a bang, and if you do go for a hornet get a CZ 527 they simply make the best hornet rifles bar none, and if you reload, Lee universal case flare die, and Lee factory crimp die are essentials for super accurate hornet ammo.
