shropshire mole 190
About to make my own rat snares after all the latest posts. So far have ordered some tigertail 0.8mm wire, 100 brass eyelets and some fishing swivels. Anything else needed, other than the hazel whips, which will cut next week?? Quote Link to post

IMO too thick...get 0.7...a bag of sea fishing crimps, and thats all ya need...you don't need swivels, these may rattle in the wind and scare the rats. Keep it real simple......but thats just MO.... 1 Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
Sounds good, I know it was the original way to use hazel, willow etc, but it's not really the best thing as it takes on memory quite quickly. The fencing stakes I'm using in the pictures are cheap as chips, but even they take on a memory. Some have bought cheap fishing poles off the bay I think? Quote Link to post
3jackwhite3 2
I use the fibreglass poles from an old tent for the whippy stick, they stay springy and don't take on any memory. Quote Link to post
shropshire mole 190
MT - Where did you get your poles from? looked at various agricultural stores on line but only see the standard plastic electric fence posts Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
Good question mate! Had them donkeys years. They're cheap as chips, let me look around. Worst comes to worst I could bundle you up a handful and post them up, they've still got a bit of life in them. Quote Link to post
