blackmaggie 3,376
i wish i had a pound for every knock back and dont let me catch you on here with a dog but if you get one place and look after the farmer and land it does open doors i found the word lurcher normally gets me knocked back or door shut in my face unless you offer them something in return like a days graft or your services if your say a sparky or builder offer to do work for them but it is hard work Edited March 13, 2015 by blackmaggie 1 Quote Link to post
Hydropotesinermis 724
The trouble I have found is that Lurchers have a bad name, thanks to these roaming b*****ds who seem to think its okay to go where they like and pinch scrap metal while they are at it. Suddenly everyone who owns a running dog is a scumbag. Its hard to find a landowner with an open mind as most have had some trouble with tossers. Even if its just tearing up spring wheat with their vehicles. I can understand where they are coming from but it is frustrating, and it doesn't make any sense... If I was a poaching, robbing twat would I ask permission first? Just keep at it, generally once you have found one bit of land it leads to others. 1 Quote Link to post

Poacherspocket 189
The biggest problem iv had getting permission is being from barnsley. Must be some right idiots round my end cos every farmer in north yorkshire has hd a run in with someone from barnsley. Iv had to learn to lie and say a little village near sheffield and its worked Quote Link to post

Rake aboot 4,936
Yup, been marched of a couple of places because I had a lurcher in the car. I was only there for pigeon shooting as well ! lol. One was very abusive though, so I just had to go back to see him again with the lurcher, pity it was 2 am when I made it back to his fields, he wasn`t there to carry on the conversation. 2 Quote Link to post

neems 2,406
Can't blame the gypsy there's alot worse out there not round here there isnt. a mate of mine has been trying to get permission to shoot on a farm basically next door to where he has had permission to shoot for over 20 years. dressed smart, refrences and insurance in hand etc they wont have any of it. me and a northern irish mate went down dressed scruffy as feck with lurchers in tow and done the 'have ya got any deer goin spare mister' routine (he spoke) and off we went. theyre terrified of upsetting them lot,and when you hear some of their horror stories its no wonder.
