Lloyd90 509
What's banties mate ? Sorry to be a pain lol Quote Link to post
hily 379
Small sized hens used silkies but found still took up lots time and space not really worth the effort if you are trying to save money on stocking a shoot. If you want to enjoy the experience of raising your own birds then crack on remember after they are gone you still have to keep your hens ( these banties can cost a canny bit to buy) unless you can borrow some just for brooding.I only use a small incubator and bring on 100 or so birds to stock a couple of outlying release pens and only do this cause I have the time and like to. farmerkev09 105
I personally use light Sussex x silkies I have near on 50 there no bother over winter. I only use banties for my English partridge but they would do well with pheasant to I would say 15 eggs max 5 hens would be perfect keep one hen back up if one hen comes off broody you can put them under the spare hen. I can roughly make these types of hens go broody in 4 days. I also have old English game cross slikie and they can go down in even less Al post some pictures of my brood pens 2 Quote Link to post
