Hi Guys, What powder would you recomend for a 204 ruger... just starting to reload for this calibre so any info would be appreciated....

Nitro powder you can buy and keep over the counter, no special qualifications or licenses needed.

 

Black Powder more difficult, needs an explosives certificate because, funnily enough, it's a low explosive.

Up to 5kg of nitro powder can be kept by you for your use at any one time. No more otherwise an additional permit/license is required. I believe that this is referred to as "Shooters Powder".

Get yourself a load book ordered,for the 204 there not too expensive,and are relevant to that one caliber, that will have all the loads for the different powder companies for your caliber, then ring around you local gun shops, or visit and find out whats in good supply, as the American powders are very hit and miss,in the way of availability,

Yes. Nitrocellulose (smokeless) powder.
