Solar Eclipse

Recommended Posts

Don't ask me! I once pointed a telescope at the sun to try to project the image onto a piece of paper and in doing so set fire to the telescope! :laugh:

But here's some instructions anyway:

And some glasses;

For those interested (and for those that aren't, so you don't think the apocalypse has come), there's a solar eclipse next Friday (20th).

Last time I saw one was when I was a little kid so quite looking forward to it. :thumbs:

Cool...I'll be able to watch from my garden this time :-)......last time I was in a road gang in Colchester town centre, giving it a squinting sideways glance from a dusty trench....lol

Used a leaflet display thing that was a really deep brown in about 1999 to see a full total eclipse in Bradford. Got to see the whole thing from cover over, corona (amazing) and then the reveal again. Brilliant to see.

Isn't there about four or five a year from various points on the planet?

That'll be the one then. :thumbs:

Out in my parents front garden with my family and grandparents. I'll never forget it, just like I'll never forget the first comet I ever saw. Natural phenomena like these live with you for ever and inspire kids to investigate the world around them.

Experiences like these do more for a child's education than any amount of forced homework will do.

I remember it because I fell of a scaffold in dark lol

I remember watching it on Cleethorpes beach ;) It'll be interesting now, in the age of the smartphone/tablet how many people will be trying to capture it on some kind of device, mayeb frying their camera sensors in the process :)
