Born Hunter 17,751
For those interested (and for those that aren't, so you don't think the apocalypse has come), there's a solar eclipse next Friday (20th). http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar/2015-march-20 Last time I saw one was when I was a little kid so quite looking forward to it.
walshie 2,804
Can you post instructions on how to make one of those pinhole things so you don't burn your eyes out?
Born Hunter 17,751
Don't ask me! I once pointed a telescope at the sun to try to project the image onto a piece of paper and in doing so set fire to the telescope! But here's some instructions anyway: http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/make-pinhole-projector.html And some glasses; http://www.eclipseglasses.co.uk/

Cool...I'll be able to watch from my garden this time :-)......last time I was in a road gang in Colchester town centre, giving it a squinting sideways glance from a dusty trench....lol

hutch6 550
Used a leaflet display thing that was a really deep brown in about 1999 to see a full total eclipse in Bradford. Got to see the whole thing from cover over, corona (amazing) and then the reveal again. Brilliant to see. Isn't there about four or five a year from various points on the planet? Out in my parents front garden with my family and grandparents. I'll never forget it, just like I'll never forget the first comet I ever saw. Natural phenomena like these live with you for ever and inspire kids to investigate the world around them. Experiences like these do more for a child's education than any amount of forced homework will do.
