Keeping Pups Keen Over Summer

ive got two beddy pups on at the moment one a 12 month old bitch and the other a 10 month old dog, they have been bushing well for the second half of the season was thinking of holding them back now over the summer is this a good idea ? cheers

It's like anything, practice makes perfect. Unless there was a very good reason for not taking them out in the summer (total lack of land to go on for example) then I'd just keep mooching about and letting them develop their skills. Won't do them much good sat in the kennel all summer.

thanks for the advice looks like i will be out mooching throughout the year then with the terriers, was just unsure if thats what others did aswell with there bushing dogs, cheers

get em out smashing green rabbits they should catch a few it'll do em the world of good some times its the only time mixy can be a bonus with young pups.catching more than their fair share atb

i keep mine ticking over right through the summer ,mainly rabbiting,and excellent time of year for yongster to really learn there trade ,,i like last thing in evening ,,cooler and plenty of scent about . :thumbs:

Plenty to keep them learning,ratting and hunting along waterways keeps me and mine occupied until the Season comes around.

Love getting out summer evenings when it starts to cool down as you say it really brings them on as there is nearly always something about on top unlike the colder months. atb daywalker. Edited by day and night walker
