squab 2,875
i have to be picky where i run the dog lot of arable land but tough to expect a dog to run this ground day in day out without injury's,had a little 21tts saluki/grey collie whip type that coped very well small light bitch with decent feet, think you be hard pushed to find the perfect runner for this type of land though,or would you? this isnt just a snap shot theres thousands of acres of fields round here covered in the stuff unfortunately i could double the size of my permission if i could find a dog that could cope with this lol Quote Link to post

Hes got great feet and a big engine. That ground is bad you have there but I think perhaps a Saluki type should run it perhaps? because a lot of dessert is like that I think, not all sand but very rough.. Quote Link to post
Saluki246 1,053
A good pure saluki would cope ok on their. Quote Link to post
nothernlite 18,089
That flint can be sharp Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
Saluki's have a smoother gait than greyhound crosses so I would of thought they'd cope better than most? I've run Tess on stuff like that several times and apart from the occasional broken nail she was fine and she's a fair lump of dog So I guess as long as they've got good hard feet most should cope okay? keeganrees 196
Got some permission on ground like this .. It's tough going on the dogs generally go there when it's very wet seem to have less injuries that way .. That could be just coinsedence I'm not sure Quote Link to post
Qbgrey 4,091
All the hares near me are on the flint fields I think they know why.we don't have many so I'd rather let them be.I won't run on flint anyway too risky 2 Quote Link to post
