Big.T 2
Hi all, Before i put any poults in my pen i always put a couple of chickens in a few weeks before to make sure it is fox proof. Do any of you do this or have other ways of making sure you have got it right? Quote Link to post
alimac 882
in theory if you have bought the right size posts, decent wire ( not the cheap asia stuff that you can rip with your hands) ringed it properly, and have a electric perimiter fence and decent baffles / grids on your pop holes then only the most determined of foxs will be able to beat your defences... but i guess if he really want in then he will find one way or the other... shotup 9
wouldnt put chickens in mate as these could contaminate the ground and make your poults ill. Quote Link to post
burnie69 376
I always dog the pen out with lurchers and spaniels a couple of days before then the night before and the morning of the poults turning up you get a munty or roe in a pen and with free winged poults before you know it there over the wire.Another thing with free winged poults if a fox does get in they can fly away from him clipped winged poults can't.They say by putting a few chickens in a pen with your poults will help em go to roost quicker never tried it myself but do know a bloke who swears by it.
