John Stott 202
I think it is hard to make a living just from pest control. Too many guns chasing too little shooting. The pro guys seem to be rat baiting most of their time to make money, many farmers do it themselves too. Short answer, don't give up your day job. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
How many of you guys make a living from shooting or pest control? I'm 28 and want a career change the problem I've got is I have a well paid job but hate it! I want to do something I enjoy either farming or pest control but there is nothing near me, plus I've got 3 kids, and house that all needs paying for! I've been round farms and local shoots etc but nothing ever comes up what do you suggest.. Cheers There are very few jobs that are all about shooting, Pest Control/farming/Gamekeeping/Etc., cover a MUCH wider area than carrying a gun around. I run my own Pest Control company, I'm a Deer mentor, Secretary of a club at Bisley, a shooting instructor and RCO, and trust me there and many days I don't touch a gun! I cherry pick my personal jobs and specialise in larger pest problems that commonly need shooting, but if I didn't cover ALL pests I couldn't make a living! PS Oh yes, Pest Control, etc is commonly about being up at silly o'clock, (I got home at 04.45 this morning), and having a phone by your side 24/7, and remember wildlife doesn't give a toss about weekends/bank holidays, etc!
