stormyboy 1,352
They are a beautiful animal but are decimating some freshwater fisheries. A lot more common than most think. 2 Quote Link to post

dytkos 17,784
About a dozen years back I had a call from a fellow who has holiday lets for me to get rid of a fox in a place by a river bank. A few weeks after I'd done it he showed me some footage he'd taken of the place and there was a pair of otters breeding in it. He later put a trail cam on the place and it streamed live to his website. See them very occaisionally, ie about 4 in the last 5 or 6 years Cheers, D. Quote Link to post
russ2012 328
Before anyone jumps the gun i am well aware that otter hunting is illegal but do any of you lads ever come across them in earths while out,i have dug 2 and bolted 2 in the lenght of time im at terriers.2 year ago we bolted 1 from a drain and dog did not show so we located him working away.We started a dig thinking we were actually diging to a 2nd otter and to our surprise we opened up to a dog fox, both in the 1 drain.I think they are a lovely animal and would not go out of my way to harm 1,seen them on the local rivers several times while fishing, very inquisitive animal. had a border x lakie on trial last year supposedly a very good sounder had him loose coming up to an earth and could see he picked a hunt along a bank and went to ground at 100 mph and came out at 200 mph about 30 seconds later completly bust up with his tail between his legs out bolted an otter straight after, and the the dog never entered ground again lol there tuff fu*kers 1 Quote Link to post

painter 24
Studies have unveiled mink bones in otters scats several times in one year on one river so yes they have contributed to the demise of the mink,a very formidable adversary for any terrier when it needs to turn it on. THE GENERAL 1,982
Bolted a few over the years never dug to one. There's 2 swim in the river in the middle of a town not far from me. You'll see them most mornings and evenings in the river. Great to watch and a lovely animal, that is unless you own a fishery ? Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Was stalking in the borders few year ago in a wood far away from water and movement caught my eye .It was an otter checking out rabbits holes .I squeaked but it never even looked up .The local barbel water to us has taken a hammering by all accounts but not seen one yet .One dead on the road near Salisbury last weekend though .
