the goat 642
He owes me a favour. When I give him the spec of shovels I want he tries telling me the local terrierman has a point on his and that's what I need...so I need to be there with him when he's doing them. Shouldn't imagine the thread is a two minute job so I wouldn't be there and itl end up being glued! Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
LOL, the thread is a nut that is welded on and rounded off around the edges mate. Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Just be sure that it's a good weld otherwise it'll snap with any force applied. I get mine done off the local council blacksmith, as the company I work for contracts for the council, so I imagine he has good gear to use in the first place. Also you don't need to sneak about with a two piece as I've told you already... Quote Link to post
the goat 642
I know nate but it's something iv always wanted a good two piece. Still can't work out what's loose...and what would be the best way to get it welded Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
I started with a shovel and a thick bolt and 2 nuts, the shovel was cut in half, one nut was welded to the shovel head side and rounded so it wasn't hexagonal. The bolt had the head of it cut off and the thread was then welded onto the handle side of the shovel. The spare nut was then screwed onto the welded thread and once the thread is screwed into the welded nut then the loose nut is tightened against it. Hope that make sense. 2 Quote Link to post

Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Don't have a clue but it's a thick one. Quote Link to post
