rasp 34
Started a nice large domestic mole job today so I thought I could try out several traps to see how they perform straight out the box. 1. Good old Duffus from flatpack with no adjustments made. 2. Mollenklem mini podal (set within runs not hills) of ebay 3. Nomole bought from JohnB Fourteenacre ( Thanks for letting me come and collect at short notice) What do you think will catch 1st, I'm visiting tomorrow to see? Quote Link to post

Matt 160
Which will catch first? Well, I'd hazard a guess that the one the mole runs into first will have the best chance unless, that is, you've baited them somehow?? Quote Link to post

Matt 160
Not yet JD As things stand at the moment, they hold little appeal to me Having said that; a friend of mine is claiming to now have the sole import rights for them, so I need to be nice about them in case he's got any samples But seriously, like most of the other trap types, I'm too long in the tooth to change my ways... I couldn't be doing with having a load of different traps and trying to find the right sort to fit the run Duffus does it for me, with the occasional Talpex for the annoying blockers Quote Link to post

rasp 34
Good comment Nicepix, I've done this garden now for the past few years & always caught quickly only ever using duffus as it's fairly stoney ground. There is always room in my tubs for other traps that may well suit different situations, to be honest I'm a sucker for anything new to try out. From what I've seen there's not much difference between the nomole and putange style traps, have you compared the two? Paul Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
I've only ever used Putanges, never had any No-Mols. If I only worked one type of soil then I could get by with one type of trap. As it is I have thick black, oozy soil in the north-east part of my area, clay in another area nearer home then it gets stony out to the west and in some areas there is barely 2" of soil over bedrock. There is one small region where the soil is loose and suitable for Talpex traps. Add to that gardens where I have to use Putanges to avoid disturbance from cats, dogs or lawnmowers and the tight tunnels around gravel drives, patios and wall sides. I couldn't do the job anywhere near as efficiently with just one type of trap. It is amazing how many times the Putanges have saved the day. I got another four pairs today and have tied the triggers on ready for a job next week. Quote Link to post
bryn27 89
Just ordered another 10 talpex free delivery is a real bonus. thats me topping out with 40 traps and no intentions to buy anymore except for eventual replacements. Edited March 5, 2015 by bryn27 Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
Never tried talpex or putanges, been duffus all the way bar a dozen of Steve albanos, oh and a couple of fenns scissors. Must try and get hold of some putanges when I'm over in May though to give a spin. Quote Link to post
rasp 34
Revisit done today, duffus caught well, the nomole had been set off but no capture from it or the podal traps? Anyway I'm going to give it a few more days before I pull the plug on them. Quote Link to post
