SHE HAS BEEN ALONE AND HAS CAUGHT A RABBIT BUT IS STILL BARKING.ILL LEAVE HER OFF FOR A FEW WEEKS AND GIVE HER ANOTHER CHANCE THEN.

Mines 13 months and lets out the odd yap if i wont slip her .. ie on fox etc. How do i stop her yapping like this without shouting at her because this might put her off in the future?

I really wouldnt worry about it. It probably hasnt seen anything if it is yapping. Soon grow out of it
some do most most dont mate ... :big_boss: ...the answer is in the other post .....droppers and plenty off em .... build the dogs confidence right up .......no hard runs or daft slips .........and then theres only a slight chance it will stop ....just being truthful mate ...hope it packs it in ........all the best with it ....

I think she's trying to tell you,....."Let me at the fecker I'm gonna tear its balls off".. ...I dread seeing a cat when I'm walking my Meg' through the streets on a lead...she's like a kite in a gale..

Witton your an Arse hole plain and simple!! :wallbash: Steve don't listen to (what they tend to call them selves) "Dog Men"!!! :feck:

My bitch was the one mentioned in the thread that tote posted! She's coming on great. Took me a long time and alot of hard work but got there in the end. I'm not saying she's 100% mute because she isn't if a rabbit hits cover and she still has sight she lets out a bark or whine or if the rabbit is spinning her inside out upside down she'l giv lil yips on the turns! Apart from that she's great. Some dogs just do it and thats life. Iv'e learned to live with it and could never part with my dog. She's doing the buisness for me now and doesn't miss many being only 15 months old!! :D

Stick to it steve go ferreting and grab a load of live bunnies drop one a day or every other day for a few weeks jus to get her confidence up gradually getting the distance further from the rabbit. Then take her on the lamp and don't let her slip untill your right up on a squatter. If you don't see one go home. It'l take time but hopefully you can improve her!!

Best of luck with your bitch steve!! :toast:

Ignore these arsehole "Dog Men" no real DOG MAN could look down a barrel of a gun at a healthy dog espescially one they have a bond with and pull the trigger!!!

well, i have three lurchers at the mo, all differant ages and i have had one when i was younger. Two of them have yapped when pups and it stopped by the second season. My youngest still does giv the odd little whine when pushed by a hare, but getting there. I have every bit of confidence in this stopping by next season, he is only gone 18mth. The other dog that did yap is mute now, so all i can say by reading past posts is take advise you feel is sensible and take some with a pinch of salt
