Keepbordersworking 103
Got a border youngster at the moment but its got to be Black&tan or black rough coated fell type dogs for me and I'm sure there will be one in my kennels sooner rather than later. Quote Link to post
Keepbordersworking 103
P.S. The next b&t or black pup that comes to my kennels will have big boots to fill because the last black one I had here had everything I want in a working terrier the right size coat and earned his dinner every time we were out I retired him age ten sadly long gone now. 1 Quote Link to post
dillydog 8,462
Border for me, I can't see me ever taking the plunge but I've always likes them from a far. I started with Russells and I wouldn't write them off ever coming back to my yard, I gave a very tidy bitch best in show last year in Wales, she was everything I'd like in a russell and it killed me not to try and tap it of the owner. 2 Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
A Scottie or even a westie They're actually both well put together animals I would probably say a Cairn would be the best of that type. As kids we used to 'borrow' my mates mums Westie to go ratting, as well as his Nans two Yorkies. In fact back then, any mutt that showed half an interest in either hunting or killing was 'borrowed' for a bit of fun... Quote Link to post
johnrussell84 2,830
My old hunting buddy had a border russell bitch got her off a guy at a fishery he used her for mink but she kept nailing the ducks etc. First sett he walked to she went straight in never looked back sadly got killed in a drain I never had the pleasure of seeing her pitty he rated her highly. Pitty the borders are used more an more for cash as no doubt the right kind could still produce similar when out crossed 2 Quote Link to post
