Barky 24
Hi guys any info on what .223 set up I should get, rifle scope and mod. Cheers Quote Link to post
hutchey 147
I looked at CZ, Tikka and Browning and opted for the Browning, got a Hawke Sidewinder on it with Parallax so i can add my Add-On NV Setup. Had it on the range out at 300m and it's a good setup. Loads on here swear by Tikka's as being great. Howa package is worth a shot if you are on a tighter budget. Quote Link to post
The Seeker 3,048
Got a Browning A bolt great value for the money. Put a Nikkon Monarch on top. For budget scopes take a serious look at Nikkon, even the prostaff range, they are incredible. Quote Link to post
Gaz6br 193
Mine Tikka T3 custom Gaz Quote Link to post
Barky 24
Nice Gaz! I like that. ? Quote Link to post
DeerhoundLurcherMan 997
I looked at a few, I liked the XBolt and tikka the best. Found a tikka t3 lite in stainless on guntrader, can't fault it. Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Tikka T3 lite, Docter scope and P8 mod. Quote Link to post
Gaz6br 193
Factory T3 rifles I haven't heard of a bad one yet, shoot 1/4 inch group straight from the box with the right load of corse Gaz Quote Link to post
Tremo 138
Just ordered a T3 Lite in .223. It was always going to be the Tikka or the Browning X-Bolt. I like the feel of the Browning, but the accuracy of the T3 cannot be denied. I already have a T3 in .22-250 calibre and to say that it is awesome is an understatement. Another negative for the X-Bolt was that the delivery of the "standard" rifle that I wanted (Blued, Composite Stock, 1:12) would be delayed until June???? Figure that one out. Hey ho, their loss! Yokel Matt 918
The truth is a second hand CZ fully set up with scope and moderator could be had for probably a shade over £500 and will probably shoot just as well as a pimped up uber expensive rifle. Ok you might not shoot clover leaves but for most realistic fox's at under 200m you don't need to. I shoot a remi 700 vssf cut down to 18" with a 10 AI mag conversion, ACE Ultra moderator and Zeiss 6-24x56 FLT. Quote Link to post
Alsone 789
They've just put a new trigger in the X_bolt. Haven't heard what they're like though. Browning are claiming a featherweight crisp pull: http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/family.asp?webflag_=023B Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Hi guys any info on what .223 set up I should get, rifle scope and mod. Cheers That's rather like asking us to chose your girlfriend for you! So far only CZ, Howa, Tikka and Browning mentioned, that amazes me, but then add the variety of scopes and mods out there and the combinations are vast. It may help to narrow things down if you mention what you actually intend to do with this .223, and your budget. Quote Link to post
Barky 24
I do like the tikka and the howa. I'll be using it for fox and will spend around £1000 Cheers Quote Link to post
Alsone 789
Charlie Caller has a Howa I believe and really rates it as do several others on here. Japanese precision made guns which are very accurate and very reasonably priced. Tikka is owned by Beretta, so good stuff, as is Sako which also demands a mention. In fact I'd probably rate Sako above Tikka. Sako might be too expensive for your budget though given that you'll need a decent scope and mod. Edited March 5, 2015 by Alsone Quote Link to post

NEW Bipod, slip, sling, cleaning tools/materials, etc may eat into that a whole load more as well! You may be looking at used, where you should find a reasonable choice. There is very little bad out there in terms of makes and models, (there are obviously bad individual rifles), simply variations of good...... and what works for you. I can never understand people lugging around heavy drainpipe barrels when out foxing, just why is beyond me, but they like them, personal choice....and that is largely what your choice will be!
