my dads bitch was the same but she was being fed raw rabbit alot ,we wormed her with johnsons then we tried her with a drontal plus but nothing changed, still not putting on weightt even though she was being fed two good meals everyday (one in the morning and one in the day)so we tried her with 4 of the puppy milbemax tablets our pups are on and they soon sorted her out.our pups have never had a problem with worms so you might want to try a good wormer.

good hunting

There is only one wormer that I'll use and that is Drontal Plus. Even Panacur has to be given as a 7 day course if you want to get all the worms so it's a lot more hassle. Drontal: one tab per 10 kilos body weight. No starvation needed and I've never had a dog throw it back up yet.

Plus: some dogs just don't do very well on a cereal based diet. Meat and animal fat are the way to go if you want to get some weight on your dog

I have trouble keeping weight on my retired racer. It took a while and a few different foods but we've got it sorted now.

For starters, as the others have said, use a different wormer. I made the mistake of using Dr Martins and it did nothing. I always use Drontal now.

As for food, you might need to up the amounts. Do you just feed once a day? I have mine on 2 feeds a day, obviously morning and evening. I wanted to feed a raw diet but my grey has too sensitive a stomach for raw all the time unfortunately and it goes straight through her. However she does enjoy it from time to time.

I went through plenty of foods, varying in price from cheap and cheerful to very expensive, some she just couldn't tolerate and others she's be ok with for a month or two and then we'd have problems. I now have her on Beta Greyhound. Its not my food of choice but she keeps the weight on and she is healthy.

Just to add, there are no problems with her apart from having a sensitive stomach, I did get her checked out by the vet.

i use Drontal wormers....but there could be a number of other reasons why your dog is loosing weight for example....fitness an unfit dog will loose weight after a few runs....food if there not fed on a suitable diet they won't gain weight, or will loose weight after a hard days work.....weather if the dog is cold it will loose weight....work is the dog getting too much running ?....medical condition has the dog been checked over at a vets ?....etc etc

A few year ago i owned a dog that i fed on "RedMills" and he was the same wouldnt hold weight....changed his diet......and it worked!

Just to add i had a bitch at the same time that was also fed "RedMills" but she held weight fine!
