shropshire mole 190
Came across these over the weekend, there are certainly some novel ways to catch your mole!! Think I will stick with good traps http://www.victorpest.com/store/mole-and-gopher-control/s6009 Quote Link to post
Mr Muddy 141
Best stick to things that are actually legal Quote Link to post
shropshire mole 190
yes being legal is often the best policy Quote Link to post
mazperks 18
There are plenty of gimmicks on sale for the unwary public. O.K poison will do the job, but will a wary mole fall for a plastic worm, however realistic looking. This is one for Steve Albano to comment on, being in your neck of the woods you may have come across them. Quote Link to post
Mr Muddy 141
Lads, I hate to come across as the boring playing-by-the-rules type, but, in the UK, poisoning moles is blatantly illegal. Strychnine has been out of use for almost a decade – to my knowledge Bromethalin, the Active Ingredient in these worms has never been approved.Anyone claiming to be a professional pest controller should really already know that. Let’s just hope some prick doesn’t follow that link and order a load 1 Quote Link to post
perthshire keeper 1,239
be good for crows too....... but very very illegal do the yanks have the same approval laws as we do? well the "kind" of laws? Quote Link to post
Butler 396
Just wondering is it illegal to poison a mole if so when was the law passed ? As strychnine was never banned just taken from sale over here..... Quote Link to post
Mr Muddy 141
As I understand it, and I'm willing to admit I might be wrong, It became illegal to keep strychnine anywhere in the EU from 2006 (so presumably that also means use it). As to the earlier withdrawing from sale; that's before my time i'm afraid - more Matt's department. One thing I do know; I don't want to lose work to people buying 'mole poison' on the internet. Mr Wasp 187
A few years ago, i had a customer who was going to use alph chloralose on his moles. Apparently he got it whilst on holiday in france! Edited March 2, 2015 by Mr Wasp Quote Link to post
Butler 396
You won't get an argument from me about poisoning I hate the stuff....... Just I also hate people quoting (facts) about things they really know little about... Quote Link to post
Mr Muddy 141
Look; It’s illegal to poison an animal using a poison not currently approved for use in poisoning that animal. There are no poisons currently approved for use on moles in the UK - Hate me or not; there’s your fact. Quote Link to post

Mr Muddy 141
never really thought about it like that; but yes, I see your point. But you know what I mean: Poison = stuff you eat or drink Quote Link to post
shropshire mole 190
Sorry guys did not mean to start a war, just showing the weird stuff the Americans can buy :icon_eek: Quote Link to post
Mr Muddy 141
IMO, good to have it out there. I use ‘mole poison’ as one of the google keywords to bring people to my website; and let me tell you, plenty of people still search for it truly believing they can buy poison for moles – they can’t (or at least they shouldn't be able to). And, just to clarify; I’m not a lawyer, so I’m not 100% on the legal hair-splitting involved in the EU rulings. That’s why I said “I'm willing to admit I might be wrong”. As for using strychnine – you can’t. As for an irrational hatred of people you’ve never met – very much your own problem. Quote Link to post
