mazperks 18
Nicepics can I ask where you bought those Putanges, Roman have stopped doing them now and are selling a different model with a flat steel spring. Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
Ah, so that's why I couldn't order any! Quote Link to post
mazperks 18
If I find a good supplier, and enough people are interested in trying a few, I would order a batch and distribute for postal charge only. Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
Putanges are available all over France, in garden centres, DIY shops and even supermarkets. However, the quality of them is variable. I can get a pair with triggers and a setting tool in one shop for €3.95 (less than three quid). Exactly the same thing in another shop is over €6, I've had some that literally rust in a few weeks and others where the spring power is vastly reduced in no time. I managed to find a shop that sold some that turned out to be far stronger than others and do not rust. But the shop hasn't had any in since and now stock a different type. I think that the traps were too strong for the customers and so they took them off sale. I tried to find out where they got them from but the guy who knew wasn't working that day. What I do is buy a two or three sets from the local shop whenever I call in for anything. They also sell genuine Talpex at a good price too. Quote Link to post
mazperks 18
It sounds like the same variation in quality you get here with all the different makes. Have you seen/tried the flat steel spring ones? Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
Yes, they are totally useless. Quote Link to post
mazperks 18
Thanks for that, one to avoid. Thats the beauty of a forum like this, theres always someone with the right info. Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
When I first started trying to trap moles the farmer who'd asked me to clear them bought me six of those traps. After two months of blocked traps every day I splashed out for some Duffus traps and caught in five out of six traps the next day. There is some absolute rubbish on sale out here. Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
I'll be over again in mid may, I think I'll make a concerted effort to source some this time. Edited February 27, 2015 by mole trapper Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
I'll be over again in mid may, I think I'll make a concerted effort to source some this time. These days I get mine from Gamme Vert which is a national chain of garden centres. The problem is though that the price isn't the same in any two shops. I have three near to where I live and the price ranges from €3.95 to over €6 for exactly the same product. Quote Link to post
