good raw diet

Recommended Posts

hi peeps

ive been thinking of putting my dogs on a raw diet for a while because ive heard of the benefits but ive no idea where to start? is it costly ? and can you do an immediate change or is it gradual? and some of your dogs diets would be a help,,,,or can i do a half n half type of thing,,at the min they are on dry but i subsidise with veg and other healthy food scraps and the dogs seem fine,,

cheers

Here we go again! Scotty; I personally feed 90% just human grade, fresh Breast of Lamb. Cheap as chips and plenty of bone, flesh And fat. My lot thrive on it.

Veggies? Doctors differ there. " Socks " recently reprinted a list of stuff Not to give ~ some of it ye may have heard about. Some of it may be quite surprising.

But anyway, I'll leave all the argie bargie about other peoples veg or no veg or what veg if so to them. I have something more interesting for ye:

" Natural " Diet  Yeppers, sort of BARF for the Advanced Feeder.

Look it up on Google as it's a bit more involved and I never took a record. But it's basicly about feeding the same proportions of flesh, bone and Organs that a Dog would gain from a whole carcass. :hmm: It's got my interest. I only came across it recently; But it Did remind me I've not got my lot an ox heart lately .....

Anyone else had any experience with that notion, please?

Hi,

Im no authority but this is my patts diet!

In the morning he has holistic wholebake (details can be found on website) mixed with any left over veg.

http://www.holisticfeeds.co.uk/default.asp

His evening meat/bone meal consists of:

Chicken wings/Lamb breast/ Pork Ribs/Turkey,Chicken carcasses,necks/Rabbit etc, basically any meaty bone that isnt too hard as it will risk breaking teeth. Various minces including beef, chicken, tripe etc (all these i get from Landywood foods which i find cheap and good quality)

Twice a week i give him raw egg, cottage cheese, oily fish, offal (heart/lungs/kidney) all cheap from supermarket or butcher. I just try and give him a good variety and cover all nutrients/vitamins that he requires, all of the above vary as to whats available at the time or whats left over from our fridge. I been told to stay away from onion, grapes, raisins, white bread and potatoes.

Everyone has different views and ideas but the above is just what works for me and definately for the dog as hes in great condition, never had the shits yet touch wood! and his teeth are like a holywood actors!

Hope this helps to give you an idea.

Will.
