John Stott 202
Well, two weeks into ownership and pleased isn't the word. Pushed today to 61 yards and grouped at 1 1/2 inches. No wind, damp using AA @ 8.4gn. Scope is a BSA Basics 3.9x40. Holdover just 1 mildot. Daystate eat your heart out, well sold it on saturday anyway! villaman 9,983
John , try AA express or JSB express 7.9gr ,in my HW100kt .177 at 65 yards had a group of about no more than 20mm , these pellets are fantastic in most HW and great in my 97. Last September went out into the field using these pellets ,after spending time testing them in our indoor range , that day I had shot 2 rabbits at 55 yards , dropped them stone dead , with out a kick 2 Quote Link to post

Given my eyesight I am pleased with this though, the scopes not a bad one either. Broke my rule on £100 spending limit on glass and bought a Leapers today and yet to mount it. Its got loads of colour combinations and settings so I might find a few to suit me. The guy said at Tactical Scopes it should suit me or to return it if it doesn't. Listen at us.......Si Pittaway wannabees! 2 Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,553
Hi John, nice choice and nice shooting. I can only speak for AA fields as i have been very pleased with my results with them in both .177 and .22 - they hit very hard indeed and extremely accurate Ha ! Ha ! si pitterway recommends AA fields in the HW 100`s amongst others. I was at a local range recently and shot at the side of a Falklands veteran sniper who used a HW 97 kt in .177. - boy could he shoot !.He said to me that one of the biggest mistakes made with PCP marksmanship is that the shooter does not listen to their heartbeat shooting at range. After an hour with this gentleman tidying my "building the shot" up i was aware of a tiny bounce of my crosshairs on the beat of my heart especially at 50 yds plus. He made me very aware of this and to be in control and squeeze off between beats - a half inch tighter at 50 yds immediately came and now i am very happy with my groupings in both calibers. Thank you Jock. Be aware of the heart beat John as the HW 100 are incredible in the accuracy department. atb 2 Quote Link to post

Silly beggars crawling around in that muck and wet for days on end looking like Wurzel Gummidge. Well truth is the science of scopes still baffles me. Of course real shooters use irons only, then when they get close enough bayonet everything in sight. Yet to find a PCP with bayonet lugs, still looking 3 Quote Link to post

Sold my 1st pcp ( brand new, less than 200 pellets through it ) a few months ago, after my son, who nearly put me in a catatonic state with his talk and instruction of holdover, holdunder, b c of pellets, grain weights etc etc etc , put me off somewhat, shall we say, BUT, I am a determined sort and am now on the lookout for a new air rifle, and, as I always did with the dogs, will tread my own path and take my time to learn, whilst also taking a bit of instruction/advice off him lol Edited February 27, 2015 by shaaark 2 Quote Link to post
John Stott 202
Boys are just that. Boys. I find they are best ignored but tolerated for their "expertise". Mine makes a complete arse of himself with his Gaystate Mk4 and laser gadgets. Blames the wind for everything...... A funny? I bought him his first S410 two years ago I was showing him the ropes with it, anyhow he fired the first shot, then brought his LEFT arm over the stock to cock it. I started laughing my head off. Of course all he had ever shot was that stupid SA80 bullpup thing they use. Boys, mini men doing their hardest to be manlike, but never succeeding Edited February 28, 2015 by John Stott 1 Quote Link to post
Andy-K2 1
Hi John. Excuse me for butting in, October last year I bought the same rifle a full length HW100 in .177, although I found they are not overly pellet fussy as some may think, it is worth trying a few different types/brands of pellets. This guy on eBay sells a small number of each, so rather than have the expense of trying full tins at stupid money each, you can try loads at pence each. Seeing your mostly target/plinking, Falcon Accuracy Plus are one pellet hole groups at 20-45 yards for me. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331481087952?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&var=540652463206&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Hope this helps.
