Well i tried to make a putange trap but cant get the trap to keep the power to kill everytime. we tried to heat the wire as it entered into the machine and used three types of wire but failed.Every ti

Traps should be made out of spring temper or "piano" wire, as was mentioned earlier. No need to temper the traps after they're formed.

Triggering off on withdrawal, is that a clue to one of the other uses?

Stop trying to guess. I've already told a couple of people and its not criminal ;)

 Neither is bestiality in Denmark, so I have read. That said they would make a great aid to bleeding brakes.

Are the Putanges something you would be interested in making Steve?

I'm working on a trap design that is a bit like the Putange trap, but with a totally different triggering mechanism. But I've been working on it off and on for about 3 years and still don't have it right. :D

I don't think I'd want to just make an exact copy of the Putange.

It's like they say steve keep it simple, if it aint broke etc.

They've been on the go long enough to be proven in use.

I've never used them, ( though thinking of trying them out) however It looks to me as if it might benefit from a slight flat where the trigger goes, and maybe lugs on the trigger like the scissor trap has.

PS have you seen the bavarian trap, another continental pincer type but with a different trigger mechanism.

The whole point of these traps is simplicity. Two round surfaces only held together by the power of the spring and so easily tripped. Start putting grooves and flats in and the trap won't be anywhere near as hair triggered. The ones I bought that cross over if accidentally triggered will last a lifetime as they don't appear to rust and retain a phenomenal amount of power even after almost a year. Normal Putanges tend to lose some of their strength as time goes on.

No thats not it, If you google "images of Bavarian mole trap" you'll see it has a run sized loop on one arm of the pincer. Sorry I'm a techno dinosaur or I would put pics up.

The spring arms dont go in side to side, but vertically, and when triggered the "kill" arm springs downwards.
