mazperks 18
Interesting iwm, I,ve been having a go at making one as well, with the same result. It obviously needs spring steel to do the job but it will be difficult to work with in the garage with basic tools and a vice. They're cheap enough on the french website but out of stock. Nicepix 5,650
I'm no metallurgist, but, there was something on telly the other day where they formed something out of steel that was quite malleable and then tempered it by heating it to red hot and dropping it into a cold water bath. When it came out it resisted being bent. Is that worth a try? Quote Link to post

We tried to do this but when we put the wire through the jig it snapped . we also heated up the trap after being made but still no luck ?? Iwm Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
Ah well. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. It's a shame that it didn't work out. Looks like the van will be full of them when I come over later in the year. I'll set my brother-in-law on flogging them on eBay Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
They need to be made out of piano wire IMO... thats the stuff that alot of good springs are made of. Quote Link to post

Cup of Yorkshire tea and a walk around some new land with the dog waiting!!! Quote Link to post

iwm 71
Iwm, I look after a local engineering company that does cnc wire forming amongst others, is this what you tried? The lad works for a fencing manufacture but we only had use of one machine for an hour or so on a sat mornings so not sure what the other machines can do, but when you are trying to ask someone who is not interested in any form of pest control or hunting to help they soon give up. rasp 34
I know what you mean mate, I remember showing them a trapline & they reckon they could knock stuff like that out all day long? The problem is the cost of the manufacturing. If anyone has a spare working model I could buy let me know and I will see what they can offer! Quote Link to post
