Which Pellet?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what pellets people are using for hunting? I have recently bought a .22 air rifle for times when I can't use my shotty and am after a bit of help regarding what people consider the best pellet for knocking down bunnies, rats, woodies etc?

Which ever one your rifle shoots the most accurately. Try a lot of different makes (good makes) of bog standard pellet, don't bother with the "superdoopakillarhinoattwentypaces" ones, just bog standard dome head pellets.

Got to say never heard of it so googled it. Sub 12 break barrel springer. You need to find the pellet it likes, and the only way is try them, then practise targets before doing live quarry (assuming you're new to air rifles) Springers kick, cheaper ones kick more, so practise until you can hit a ten p piece at the range you want to shoot at.

PCP's on the other hand have no recoil, aim -- squeeze trigger --- quarry falls over

Thanks, I've played with air rifles for years but never seriously. I took it to Coleys yesterday and zeroed it in using domed pellets and was impressed at the accuracy at 40 yards or so. I didn't go for anything too pricey as the plan is to give my 13 year old some experience and use it on small quarry until I get my FAC.

OK then, sometimes  To be honest I have a few old springers, Airsporters, Webley Mk3 etc and I was sort of comparing to them.

You have to admit though, if all things go well it is just a case of aim, squeeze and watch it fall over.
