Qbgrey 4,143
Ope you get sorted Jamie, what's the craic if someone wanted to get an acre or so n put a static caravan on n have a few goats n pigs etc is there a lot of red tape or quite straight forward..very straight foward if you know land owners, sometimes they're happy enough to even lease the land long term rather than see it not being used. Wee corner of a field or such like. All you need then, your mobile home, plumb it electric in and get a herd number then get your livestock. [/quote Not straight forward at all unfortunately .land owners are a pain they would never sell or even lease a plot.and definitely not allow a static on it.the smaller the plot the more expensive it is.for an acre in Kent you be looking at 2o.ooo plus at auction.too much competion. The price round here is driven by the horse owners all wanting a couple of acres , if its got road frontage the prices are unbelievable ! A four acre field just made £88k .. dare 1,103
So the bloke who brought the land for 88k whats he expected to do, knock up some stables and rent them and the land out to horse owners? What sort of money can he expect?

What sort of money can he expect? DIY livery is in the order of £20-30 per horse per week. If hay is supplied it will be more. If the landowner does any work with the horses it will be more. Dare , he bought it for his daughters horses .That's it .It will never go down in price , he can afford to do it and at the end of the day it will probably be a tidy investment .Oh to have the thick end of 90k sitting their doing nothing ...
TOPPER 1,809
land around here goes for around 10k per acre your better off looking for a bigger bit then selling it of in smaller bits , if you want a bit to put a static on you will need 12.5 acres then you can get permitted development rights to build a barn then you can put a static on there for 3 years while you build your barn and set a some sort of agri business go field to farm forum lots of info on there
TOPPER 1,809
theres 18.6 acres for sale at south brewham near Yeovil for 300k with a log cabin on it - cooper and tanner I think
Waz 4,274
Prices seem to be around 1500 euro the hectare around me (France), paid a good bit less though last year for a few parcels attatched to what I bought the year before.

Did you miss a 0 off the end of that? Or are you saying land in France is 1/10 the price of land in the UK?

You read it right! + the pound is worth 1.35 euros recently...., best its been for 8 year I think & fingers crossed it gets even better. Great time to buy IMO. Downside is the beuracracy (I know im shit at spelling big words and my spell check is in french I think!), and if you need to earn a living then you are competing against too many boggit and leggits. I think the price difference says much more about the UK and its population density than politics, although saying that "THE REVOLUTION WILL BE TELEVISED!"
