shropshire mole 190
you have answered your own question, if you dont have enough traps then tell customers it will be a week/10 days before you can come out Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
I suppose it all depends on what you do. I've got about 50 Flatpacks, 20 Talpex and 20 to 30 Putanges and I've not run out yet. But I mainly do garden jobs where I'll typically need 10 to 20 traps per job and I manage the work so I don't have three bigger jobs on the go at once. Quote Link to post

shropshire mole 190
I lose some as well, if the peg goes then the trap location goes as well. As long as the jobs I do covers for lost traps, im happy Quote Link to post
Matt 160
I used to loose quite a few traps but I've developed a system that works for me and has dramatically reduced my losses. I have printed maps of each farm (I copy and paste off Bing Maps) and I put a number (or name) in each field. I them list the number of traps in each field in my waterproof notebook and when I check the traps I list the captures. When the time comes to lift the traps I know exactly how many should be in each field. I keep going round and round until I've found them all. This is all very different to when I used to just record the total number of traps on the farm and try and remember the exact locations I still loose a few each year (mainly to badger vermin), but losses have dramatically reduced. Rowan 308
Hardly ever loose one apart from 2 legged vermin, who just do not understand anything about the countryside, I do mark all my traps with a hazel stick about 3' long and painted white at the top , the only time I do not use this method is in public areas where I cover the trap with a fake mole hill and then tuck a piece of baller twine in it so I remember which mole hill is mine and not the moles I have just ordered another 20 duffus and 10 more talpex , this will take the pressure off a bit , I like to get to customers as soon as I can after they contact me especially new ones , repeat customers I find understand I am really busy and will wait abit longer. BRY 79
I used to love Mole trapping, but as get older and like today couldn't use a buggy to get around the golf course I had to carry my gear . As well as the course being wet /muddy I find it BORING and tedious shell these days. I loose lots of traps as well, shovel what GPS do you use mate ? is it accurate ? Bry Quote Link to post
bryn27 89
GPS is interesting but the accuracy is the thing that concerns me. Quote Link to post
Matt 160
I've got a GPS, but not only is it too slow for me, by the end of the day it looks like a very muddy brick. I can print out as many maps as I like and if they end up being soggy muddy mush it doesn't really matter. Quote Link to post
