Simps, the last five words of your last post says it all, "talk about putting you off" you have hit the nail on the head, DO NOT STAND FOR IT, join BASC, write to the CC, what a shower.

Well my first step(assuming you have not already) is to ring your firearms dept, and ask what if anything the land is passed for, it is unlikely, but by no means impossible, that the land is passed fo

I'd be very surprised if anyone got refused a hmr but granted a 22!   I didn't struggle, neither has anyone I know.

i was told yesterday by my FEO that they would not pass a .22 rimfire on 84 acres of land but have granted me FAC air rifle.

that is rubbish they can grant rim fire for ten acres provided the land is safe enough to shoot i have been surprised at some of the land past for centre fire in the fact that there was very limited options for a safe shot

See, that would drive me around the bend! Go through the whole process only to be told that? I am going to call them this morning and ask about the two permissions I have to see what they may have been cleared for and make my decision based on that.

Sadly they don't seem very helpful at all. Spoke to them only to be told that I should apply and ask the question then. I said I wasn't willing to spend time and money only to be granted FAC air rifle so was told to email my query. Last time I emailed them was 6 months ago when I added another shotgun to my licence and asked them to confirm they had it on record and they never even replied then so I'm not holding out too much hope!

Correct, and there is nothing stopping you contacting another more "helpful" force and asking the same question, you probably got through to a civilian in the dept, who cant be arsed, dont stand for it, you have every right to the information, say you are not satisfied with the service, and will write to the chief constable for an explanation, soon see what response you get then  ask them how the hell would a man with a closed condition on his ticket find out if the land he has just been granted permission on, is cleared for his calibre, or would they just like him to guess and go ahead and shoot on it, what deplorable service, get it sorted mate.

RE: Land query

Dear Mr xxx

We cannot give out details of land clearance until we have received an application and permission to shoot over a particular piece of land.

Sorry we cannot help at this time.
