nasher1 258
Avon and Somerset would not let me have a centrefire on first application even with good reason to own one however a friend who applied a year earlier got everything he asked for Quote Link to post
nasher1 258
i was told yesterday by my FEO that they would not pass a .22 rimfire on 84 acres of land but have granted me FAC air rifle.that is rubbish they can grant rim fire for ten acres provided the land is safe enough to shoot i have been surprised at some of the land past for centre fire in the fact that there was very limited options for a safe shot Quote Link to post
Simps 0
i was told yesterday by my FEO that they would not pass a .22 rimfire on 84 acres of land but have granted me FAC air rifle. See, that would drive me around the bend! Go through the whole process only to be told that? I am going to call them this morning and ask about the two permissions I have to see what they may have been cleared for and make my decision based on that. Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Good, that is all you need to do for now, let us know the outcome please. Quote Link to post
Simps 0
Sadly they don't seem very helpful at all. Spoke to them only to be told that I should apply and ask the question then. I said I wasn't willing to spend time and money only to be granted FAC air rifle so was told to email my query. Last time I emailed them was 6 months ago when I added another shotgun to my licence and asked them to confirm they had it on record and they never even replied then so I'm not holding out too much hope! walshie 2,804
What police force is this? It takes them 5 seconds to see if an area is cleared or not. Quote Link to post

walshie 2,804
I'd just call them and ask if so-and-so land was cleared or not. They don't need to know the ins and outs of your request. Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Correct, and there is nothing stopping you contacting another more "helpful" force and asking the same question, you probably got through to a civilian in the dept, who cant be arsed, dont stand for it, you have every right to the information, say you are not satisfied with the service, and will write to the chief constable for an explanation, soon see what response you get then ask them how the hell would a man with a closed condition on his ticket find out if the land he has just been granted permission on, is cleared for his calibre, or would they just like him to guess and go ahead and shoot on it, what deplorable service, get it sorted mate. Born Hunter 17,751
I phoned about a bit of land was told that without filling in all the paperwork officially they would not tell me what it was passed for "as it's against data protection"! Quote Link to post
Simps 0
WTF? Just had this reply to my email. RE: Land query Dear Mr xxx We cannot give out details of land clearance until we have received an application and permission to shoot over a particular piece of land. Sorry we cannot help at this time. Edited February 18, 2015 by Simps Quote Link to post
