theres a vet in leeds my mate went to they took 5 straws ,screened em for fertility etc froze them and stored them .500 quid all in then 50 quid a year after for storage .first 50 quid payable a year after storage .but there is quite a few vets about the country doing it these days

I used my Border terrier whirrier over one of my terrier bitches, and they produced tiny bushing dogs: but they have inherited all the best bits from both parents in terms of nose, biddability and drive. I just wanted something to push rabbits out of cover, not necessarily catch them, and I have basically reproduced my old bitch and kept the good temperament as well. If you wanted something to catch rabbits as well, then put him over a Whippet bitch.

Put him over a whippet bitch, keep a bitch pup then if it's any good put him over her in a few years (straws if old)

Should you or shouldn't you?

 

I have a 7 year old jrt x whippet who has proved himself to me time and again. Ideally I would like to clone him but failing that I'd like to breed him to a bitch of the same type and calibre aiming to get a very similar type of dog.

 

Is this a good idea or am I likely to end up with throw backs?

 

if i had a 7 yr old dog who'd proved himself to me, id put him to a bitch of the same calibre, and keep a dog pup which you think is like him

Ok, who's got a small whippet x or whippet bitch? I'm willing to travel but want to see the bitch working first then wait for her to come in season. Happy to show the dog working and if you don't like him then all bets are off. Not in any rush, got to be the right bitch.

Does the person who bred your dog still have the sire and damn?

If so are they going to breed em again?

When wanting a sheepdog with the same traits as mine, I go back to the person who bred him

Sadly Donna, no he doesn't. In an ideal world I would put him across a litter sister but lost track of the littermates and, unless they'd already been bred, they'd be a bit long in the tooth now.
