Not everyone.......i just never understood how the work of some good dogmen created glory for somebody who never worked a dog in his life....im certainly not about to get into arguments that still go

Its alright for yous with your light hearted bickering ive been typing while hiding under my bed lately being as how some boy Jukel off here warned me against discussing gamedogs a few weeks ago....it

Thats probably because he,s always been a salesman.......doesnt mean he didnt produce some exceptional dogs though.

I can't think of any non domestic animal which will fight one on one to the death in a natural environment??? Them pigs are being provoked to do it, pits are bred to do it and the horses they fight are tormented with an in season mare.

seen giraffes d it

All blood sports are cruel and we realise that but as a hunter you should try to minimise how long the cruelty lasts

It's killing plain and simple and matching, happens every day in nature, these emotive terms like "blood sport" and "cruelty" mean nothing to me any more.

Animals kill other animals and animals match up against each other......so f***ing what.

prey is killed by predators and same species will match but which species will fight to the death?
Two male Siberian hamsters will fight to the death when the hit puberty

So to try and get dead game dogs you'd need to breed of game dogs that you may or may not find out one day if it really was dead game. I don't know much about these dogs at all but I'd think that the dead game dogs where just freakish dogs well bred but just freaks, of course it may have been bred to the balls but how many of them came from dead game dogs? I wouldnt be trying to breed purely for gamness but more for a good bit of everything that it needs to be a great dog and hope the gamness is in there. That might sound like a load of pish but as I said I know feck all of these dogs but enjoyed reading this thread

Lukey dont get too wrapped up in the term " dead game " mate it really is an overused term of which only a very small percentage of dogs claimed as being dead game actually are.....just because a dog dies after a match or even during a match doesnt make it dead game........but in terms of breeding you cant just hope that gameness is there because a dog without gameness strictly speaking is worthless......it actually works pretty much the opposite in that you breed for gameness and hope other qualities are there as things like hard mouth, roughness, intelligence and ability are near impossible to breed for with any sort of consistency......good breeders breeding proven families will EXPECT high levels of game offspring in their litters so no its most definately not freakish to produce deeply game offspring out of deeply game ancestry.

Gonna throw a spanner in the works , there's no such thing as a proper pitbull no stamp or standard to follow and breed to. I also think most are game and the real trait that makes a dog great is its conditioning

So by that reckoning a superfit cur that go,s 2 hours is a better dog than an extremely game unfit dog that go,s 30 minutes  ................as for no such thing as a proper pit bull when you can trace your dogs history dog for dog back over 100 years of proven documented breeding i think its safe to say theres certain criteria been followed ;)

interesting thread lot of history, like it or not its happened so why not talk about it, why should only one side of it be portrayed, my prior knowledge of them was basically I grew up in eighties and everyone all of a sudden had one, few horror stories in papers dogs banned, (therefore twice as attractive to certain sorts innit ;) ) so layman assumes yobbos torture evil tw@ts blah blah but look deeper theres history of it in our country and also in America, once it was far from frowned upon, and lets face it there was once not a million years ago rat pits in pubs in Uk, and dog fighting was legal; bear bating etc etc , ffs they still bull fighting in spain on cultural basis, maybe ban right maybe its wrong, but to assume its the picture portrayed by the press only is wrong cos theres a whole other side to it as well

Would you lot say gameness is to do with dominance? Have read about dogs humping each other in the pit?

I dont claim to be speaking factually its only my opinion.....but no i dont think gameness has anything to do with dominance theres bulldogs out there who will happily take second place just for a quiet life in many situations.........but not in a fight...........some bitches will fight a male dog as hard as they will fight another bitch thats not dominance its simple fighting desire.....ive said for years gameness is a man made reversal of nature.....nature dictates that once the initial fur starts to fly the majority of animals go into survival mode and either leg it or curl up in a ball......gamedogs do the total opposite hence its the reverse of nature selectively bred for by man.

As for humping all that proves is they are flesh and bone and can get confused/lazy and do any number of crazy things......ive heard of dogs chewing their own legs, stopping for a piss, scratching into the pit wall all number of odd things but they,re not programmed machinery they are flesh and bone animals we can read as much or as little as we like into strange behaviour.
